After spending more time looking at these guys....I would be scared out of my mind to take Seth Jones. He looks like he has a cannon, and can skate and use his height against kids....but much like Tyler Myers, he does NOT have the body that will fill out. His chest is sunken, no mass up top. If I was in the top 3, I think McKinnon is #1 no-brainer, then I can see Barkov at 2. I would say Nurse is a "safer" pick longterm than Jones.

I found one more player that looks like a can't-miss to me and that is Horvat. Stout, built up in the right places, has a 2-way game and can play physical....offensive skill....and the kid sounds like another sharp dude who has the body and the brains to be a leader.

I've listened to and looked at most of the 1st round guys now and Horvat and Lazar are the 2 who stand out in the mental department, and have solid physical attributes besides. Domi is ok but small and topheavy. Monahan is interesting....like the body...ok but a little "sleepy" and introverted.

Love these horse trader style takes on these guys (and not just cause of the love for my guy Horvat).

Thanks....I want to go to the draft party and we have some nice picks and may grab more, so I at least want to feel like I have an idea about what's going on.

As far as pure hockey skill and total body of work, I have no clue what I am talking about on these guys. That's why the NFL combine is awesome....they tweak those tests just right so you get to see it all. But at least the NHL gets the guys into their skivvies, and you get interviews. I hadn't really even looked at this thread until recently.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around people bein disappointed if we don't pick player A or B. we barely know anything about these kids.

And with the 8th pick, the Buffalo Sabres pick Zachary Fucale!

Is it easier to imagine now?

I'm about burnt out on all this draft talk. Not really anything left to discuss really. Let's just get this ###### over with.

I wouldn't trade McCabe to move from 8 to 6. Nope wouldn't do it, kid is everything this team needs and lacks. Best 2nd round pick of 2012 draft IMPO.

This. As far as I am concerned he is one of five or so untouchable prospects (along with grigorenko, girgensons, armia, and McNabb). Also, as far as NHL players I consider untouchable it would be Hodgson and Myers.

I've been wondering that myself. All this conjecture and speculation based on other peoples draft lists leads us to what ? Page 56. Really peeps we're no closer to knowing how this will play out than we were on page 1. No one here is a scout though some have done a nice job compiling lists based on other peoples opinions but there's a reason teams don't hire people to peruse the web to do the teams scouting. Can't wait for draft day to come and go.

I'd throw the phone at you for offering a guy you just signed off the street.

I'm not sure if you understand where Ruhwedel came from. We signed him out of college, not "off the street." He chose us over many other offers he had because we offered him an immediate NHL chance.

1. If we knew what was going to happen it wouldn't be much fun to talk about.

2. Fan opinions on the draft, even if they're based on reading scouting reports, often turn out to be pretty accurate. The Bills would be a better team now if they'd crowd sourced their last 15 drafts.

3. The draft is the one day a year when fans of every team can feel good about their team. And if you're a Buffalo fan, it's pretty much the only day you get to feel good anymore.

I know all about chad. If I were a GM, I'd be pissed at the whole concept. Conacher did get dealt for Bishop so I guess GM's don't really think like me.

It's two spots. If it were an attempt to move up 4/5 spots, it'd obviously take much more. But when it's two spots it won't take a lot. Probably something like 8, a mid-level prospect and a 5th.

5 untouchable prospects? Cripes. Girgensons is really my only one.

I literally have ZERO "untouchables," but if I HAD to choose one it's him. There's a few guys that you'd have to "pry out of my dead hands." But still.

Exactly. You have to give something up to get something and the only two prospects I think are sure thing NHLers are Larsson and Girgensons. Larsson just isn't quite arousing as Gus.

I just disagree. We are trying to get top prospects and build our system up. You don't give away the few good chips we already have. Players like grigorenko, girgensons, armia, mcnabb and mcCabe are players you can already build around in 3-5 years. Keep adding to the system, no point in taking away the good part of it. If you can get draft picks in the first two rounds through veteran players, mid level prospects, and our draft picks, then you do it. But we can get two VERY good players right now with our picks and then get some good players in the next few rounds. I just don't believe in giving up our unproven top prospects (plus other picks/players) for unproven top prospects.

I wasn't saying that we should trade prospects, just that it doesn't make sense to me to have so many untouchables. If the right deal comes along, I am not going to worry too much about shipping out Grigorenko or Armia, even though I'm really excited about the players they could be for us. Obviously the Sabres are a rebuilding club so you don't want to gut the farm.

Yea I know what you mean I guess we have different definitions. I mean no one in the NHL is untouchable, I would just try my best if I was the Sabres to hang on to those players and just continue to add prospects and get assets other ways.

Eh. You've done better.

We've got nothing good to work with....Lindy's gone, Darcy's entrenched, Terry's confused, the fanbase is on autopilot......at least in the good old days we could count on Tallinder to participate in a Swedish Pyramid, or get a gratuitous crotch shot from Roysie........

A friend of mine the other day said the best thing I've heard in a while.....the people associated with Pegula have known him for so long...why didn't they make Kim the figurehead of the team and let her deal with the public? Terry could still have been in on all the meetings, but she's a slick lady.....in a good way. Imagine....a woman owner.....someone with ties, who could brush off the pressure with her charm and cuteness.....it would have been awesome.
