Sounds right to me. You'd have to temporarily disable formatting in order for it to not be interpreted as a copyright symbol.

Unless the deal is so overwhelming for picks 1-4 I just don't see them moving the pick. I'm not against giving up Miller. But people talking about Ennis or Grigs to move up and giving up way too much would be downright silly. I would be happy keeping 8 and 16 and then trying to move both seconds and Possible picks from next year to move up into the top 15. I would love to have 3 picks in the top 16. I think Miller doesn't get us as much as people think.

I think I've moved Lindholm ahead of Monahan in my personal rankings.

The more I hear about his edge, the more I think can't-miss.

And Grigorenko, Miller and 16 is my opening offer for McKinnon. Over to you Mr. Roy. ;-)

I highly doubt Darcy has the balls to pull that off.

That might get it done.

Would the Sabres first have to trade with Nashville to get the 4th pick before they can trade for the 1st?

Would we see the dudacek move (Grigorenko, Miller and 16 for the 1st) maybe even blown up to mega size adding in Myers and Paul Stastny (and maybe the Avs #1 next year?)

Or do we end up with picking 8 and 16 and Darcy telling us the price was too high to move up?

I don't know why they are being so public about their desire to move up. Darcy certainly leaves himself wide open for the criticism if they end up drafting 8/16.

He's ###### in the court of public opinion either way, just about.

a) If he says he wants to move up and fails, he'll be criticized for failing to execute.

b) If he doesn't say he wants to move and doesn't move up, he'll be criticized for failing to not trying to do enough.

I'd rather he be rather straightforward publicly, at least this way we know he's aggressive in his approach to improving the team, and if it doesn't pan out, it doesn't pan out. Much better than months of slience and then months of nothing.

I just about think a failure to move up in this draft will be the result of a lack of interest or ridiculous asking prices by the teams above us, not necessarily a failure that falls all on our front office. We have the motive and opportunity to conduct serious upward-moving business this draft- only the whims of the other teams seem to be in our way.

Why do people want to trade Grigorenko? Isn't he only 19? He has NHL experience and played well in the same league as MacKinnon. I don't see much of the minor leagues but is MacKinnon the next Crosby type of talent.

I'm just surprised to see all the trade scenarios including Grigorenko after all the per season talk this past year about his potential.

Grigorenko's ceiling is high, MacKinnon's is higher.

You need to pay value to get value.

If I'm Colorado I do not consider a Buffalo package that does not include either Girgorenko or Myers.

I have watched MacKinnon and the Mooseheads for some time now.

He has been compared to Crosby. He dominated the Q this regular season and playoffs. He was the main attraction at the Memorial Cup. He made Jones look like a kid on more then one occasion.

I would trade any Sabre (s) for the chance to draft him.

In case you have not had a chance to read my posts ... I'm also big on Drouin and Fucale ( ;) ).

And before I'm said to be a *Halifax homer* .......... :flirt:

It seems to me like the Lindros trade. Trading good young potential for other good young potential. Lindros for Forsberg+ and here it is MacKinnon for Grigorenko +.

Just going off the scenarios laid out in the thread would you rather Grigorenko and Monahan/Lindholm or MacKinnon. If I'm trying to rebuild I think we need to find several pieces rather than just one.

If they make the trade I hope your right because what it sounds like they want for an unproven talent is crazy.

MacKinnon. No question about it.

I'll take MacKinnon all day myself. I believe in Grig but like others have said, you need to give to get. The other big problem we have is there is no certainty that Monahan/Lindholm falls to us. The real scenario might be Grigorenko and Risto/Nurse. In this scenario I would much rather have our bonafide #1 centre for the next decade.

I know it's still a pipe dream at this point but having MacKinnon and Hodgson as our #1 and 2 centres coupled with Girgs/Larsson/Kea et al as our 3rd and 4th would be unreal. Finally we would have our strength down the middle in two years time.

I give em myers over grigs all day long.. for a number of reasons... including cap room

Fair comment, but if we've got MacKinnon, were not going to need a potential first-line centre.

If we don't have Myers, we are going to need a potential first-line defenceman.

Really, what matters is what Colorado wants. I'd rather give up Grigs, but I might give up both if that's what it takes.

defense is another trade.. and after picking 1 and 8, with the cap room and the right high end body you have the ability to make serious a run at it ( not to be confused with make it happen).. Yandle...5.5 cap hit...good through 15-16.. they are listening

At 1 and 8 you just take MacKinnon and Ristolainen and don't worry about losing Myers.

I could see this coming right down to the wire. If Devine, et al really think that MacKinnon (or substitute any of the top three) is the one guy they'd make the huge trade for to move up and grab, and he's taken first overall, then they might back off and stand pat for the next couple of picks. According to Devine, picks 4-10 are pretty similar, and we've already got 8. Maybe we'd trade up from 16 into top 10 to double up, but it's possible that if the first pick doesn't swing the right way for the Sabres' interests, we pass on the huge trade.
