Updated NHL.com Mock Drafts: http://www.nhl.com/i...id=nhl:topheads

Any draft that has the Sabres passing on 1 of the magnificent 7 to draft a defender who isn't in my top 3 defenders I disregard in its entirety. Ryan Pulock over Elias Lindholm would get me to the point of calling for Darcy to be run out of town. Blunder wouldn't begin to classify that type of drafting stupidity.

That aside I think the other 2 drafts are possible and I wonder if we target Lindholm the more I see. He is a RH shot and could be converted to wing in the NHL. I saw some reports that say he doesn't take a lot of the faceoffs when he is out on the ice but he does have a good faceoff win percentage... 20 days... 20 freaking days

Notably absent from the list, Bo Horvat.

The article doesn't make it clear, but the rankings do not appear to be Baker's.

Rather it appears to be Baker's take on the top four European and six North American forwards, as ranked by Central Scouting.

He's blended the two lists and offered his opinions, but they are stacked here as they are stacked by central.

Does anyone know what Baker's relationship is with the Sabres these days?

Is he not on the payroll now, at least as a part-time scout?

I've always respected his work.

From a variety of bits and pieces, I have become convinced the Sabres are determined to come out of this draft with one of four players: MacKinnon, Nicushkin/Barkov or Lindholm, in that order.

And I think Pegula has instructed Darcy to do what it takes to ensure they will get one of them.

I don't know that Darcy has it in him to overpay for anything, so I am really intrigued to see what goes down.

It could be we either have an exciting draft, or an angry owner.

And that might be good for the Sabres either way.

Buffalo will be getting a top 3 pick. I dont care what darcy's history is like. Terry and Ted did not forget what happend this year and how messy this shortend season was to not only the sabres, but for the fans as well. This team knows that they have to make things right and make them right fast. Buffalo is going to trade off players, whether that be vanek or miller, they are going to get 1 of the top 3 players. If I were GM of Buffalo I would trade Miller, Staff, Sekera, Adam, Sekera, Ennis picks and prospects to get 2 picks in the top 5. I know this would be hard, but use next years picks as well. Do something like Miller, Stafford and 2 of this years 2nds(whatever ones) to colorodo for the 1st. And then try and pull off like a Sekera, Ennis, prospect and next years 1st to florida for their 2nd. That would give us 4 picks in the top 16. We could land Mackinnon and Jones, or whatever 2 we wanted. I would go all in on this years draft. They are comparing it to the 2003 draft. Go all in, we have the depth at many posistions now, lets get 4 top 16 guys and then see how this team looks in 2 years

I have to tell you honestly I think if I were Colorado I would be more interested in the 2nd scenario than the 1st one. In the 2nd I get a top 4 defender. a top 6 winger and a 1st round pick although I guarantee they would want 8 but may take 16 this year. I wouldn't trade away next years top pick either because if we did half of what you propose we will finish with another top 10 pick.

I think it's more as a part time writer, some of his SabresProspects.com material is posted on the Sabres site.

His pre-draft article is always great.

With the 52nd pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft the Buffalo Sabres select, Laurent Dauphin from the QMJHL. He is 6' but only 166lbs. So why do I like him? Well not only is there a good chance he is available but more importantly this kid can play. He has shown he has smooth skating and stickhandling and he never gives up on a play. Watch his U-18 highlights, he never quits and his legs keep turning. His low weight is an issue because he gets bumped off the puck. However he turned 18 in March and has plenty of time to hit the gym. With our 2nd 2nd round pick this guy could be a good addition in 4yrs. He needs 2 more years in Juniors and then 2 years in the AHL. Next year though, this kid is going to breakout in the Q.

He can fill out, I was 6'2.5" 170 after my first year of college. Didn't hit 190 till I turned 30. With today's diets, I am sure he will be able to put on the weight, especially muscle and he may still grow some. I grew 41/2 inches after high school. Instincts are harder to teach and skills take a lot of time so at this point he should have them by now.

NIce find if he works out.

Interesting thoughts....but if this is the 2003 draft - there really is no reason to press to get in the top 5 because there is talent throughout. 2003 - was Vanek, Fleury, Horton, Zherdev, and Erik Staal in the top 5- while Carter, Burns, Kessler, Parise and many others were throughout the first round.

You made it further than me. I was lost at "Buffalo will be geting a top 3 pick...".

I will say I expect 1 of Vanek, Stafford, Miller to be off the roster come July 1.

Also what happened to 716, he said he wanted to draft an N. American so I tried to ask Barkov or Horvat but he never answered.

Depends on the brownie. Duncan Hines -I don't do it. Ghiradelli and I make the deal.

I think it is safe to say that June 30 is one of the most important days in Sabres history. That might sound a little exaggerated but I truly believe it. Can't get here fast enough.

Godiva with no nuts and a 7th and you have a deal.

A prospect with no nuts for a prospect with......... no nuts.

Sounds like a win-win trade.

Anything Godiva Chocolate is no prospect, though. Just sayin'.

Elite talent right there, I say.

Those of you expecting the Sabres to be all agitated by this past season and ready to act with urgency because they owe it to the fans, and who think this draft is Regier's last chance, are exceptionally deluded in my humble opinion.

Have we learned nothing about this organization? I can't take them seriously until they dismiss Regier and Rolston and get some hard core hockey people in there.

Sizzle I hope to Gawd they prove you wrong but I totally understand your sentiment. Its hard not to feel shafted with the way they've run this thing into the ground.

The stench of the last 11 seasons will stay with this organization as long as Regier remains. Pegula and Black can say they are only judging Regier on what he has done since they took over, it is fair to say many fans are not that forgiving.
