It was interesting to hear that there is a belief you can move up in the draft. If we could make it to 4th I think Barkov is the guy. He sounds like he has everything we want and he already plays against men.

I agree that trading Vanek and Miller will set us back. I have never argued that. But if we can not sign them we need to trade them. I hope we can sign them.

SO I heard today that Darcy Regier said he will try to move up and that he talked to some GMs already.

Word out of Nashville is, that a GM already called in to talk about their 4th overall.

And did Nashville say they were open to the idea of trading down?

Basically if we get 4th we are taking Barkov

Why don't you blow up Free's brain by suggesting a Myers for Weber swap as part of scenario?

Did not hear anything about that... I doubt that they would say yes or no to it though. If you say no a few times the other team might adds something to their offer...

i think we could trade Myers our 1st and a 2nd for Shea Weber and Nashvilles first.

He didn't want to get fired today? Or

The trade market is locked for the playoffs so he can't yet.

Okay enough with the bs back on point.

Barkov is probably the best Euro in the draft and someone with the size and skills to immediately make an impact on this roster. If you can trade up than awesomeness. He is most assuredly the 2nd best Center outside of MacKinnon and I think he fits more of our needs than some of the later centers but I doubt highly you could trade up for him. Lindholm or Monahan are the guys.

After listening to Button on that pod cast. I still would keep all 4 picks unless one of the top 4 teams is willing to trade and if Buffalo is deciding to trade Miller or Vanek it would be the right time to do it at the draft. I have no issues with Miller or Vanek but if I'm gonna trade one of them I let Miller go. I would keep Vanek as he is an elite level player on offense. This team hasn't had a goal scorer like him since Mogilny. Barkov we be a solid pick. Has size and skill and playing against men already.

If they stick to the 8th I would pick Lindholm.

However after my own mockraft I think we pick Nurse

I hope Darcy doesn't draft a d-man with the 8th pick. I would load up on the offense as they can always find defenseman later. They can even go 1 d-man in the late second. But this organization lacks any real offensive firepower and superskilled forwards. It's always easier to unload a scoring forward if we need defense. You look at most teams that didn't make the playoffs or team needs most will need scorers. That's the reason I go full bore offense in the first two rounds. Get the best scorers you can and then rounds 3-7 take the best available player. I'm a firm believer you don't need to draft a goalie so high in the draft and you can find one in the middle rounds.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Ristolainen. This is a 17 year old kid playing with pros that isn't afraid to hip check, hit low, hit high and play on the edge. (just from watching his highlight hits - what 17 year old pro has highlight reels of hits?) He is a great skater with nastiness and loves the contact. He's a guy players hate playing against. I'm hoping he goes West. But I wouldn't be too disappointed in getting him depending on what Buffalo does at 16 and in the totality of the draft.

Pairing IIHF WJC teammates Barkov and Armia would be great if Darcy can get up to the 4th pick.

Would Barkov have mandatory military service?

I'm not sure. I think he is half Russian.

This is a little too sexy for my tastes.....Like one of those Matrix guys....I couldn't find his hit reel again.

I'm really warming up to Ristolainen if all my favorite forwards are gone by then. His ceiling is a big, franchise defenseman who hits and that's something we haven't had since....?

I'm not so sure that's true. Major trades never happen during the playoffs but I believe technically they can.
