Judging by the teams that will finish below us I would hazard the following guesses as to how they will pick. Note I think Philly and NJ rally and pass us.

1) Florida: They need talent badly. Obviously they take Jones

2) Colorado: I think they need a LW more than a center and Doruin is so good they will take him

3) Calgary: They need a complete rebuild and MacKinnon is a great way to start that.

4) Carolina: They are solid up front so they will draft a defender I think. Ryan Pulock would be my guess unless they are high on Nistolainen

5) Nashville: They need up front talent badly and will take Barkov

6) Tampa Bay: Another team in need of defense but also has an aging core. I would guess they pick defense unless they really like a winger, Nistolainen or Lindholm

7) Edmonton: Now I believe they will take defense. That being said I could see them taking say our 1st and a 2nd/3rd (depends on where we finish really) and moving back a little in the draft. They take Nurse unless they really like Monahan or Shinkaruk

Now it comes to us. Buffalo will draft a forward in this draft unless Seth Jones magically falls to them or they win the lottery (again Seth Jones). If we drafted 8th which is what I predict at this moment in time than we should take (no surprise) Sean Monahan if he is still available. If not Shinkaruk is a consolation prize we could live with. The catch is many won't like Shinkaruk's size.

We need to add front-line offensive talent to the system.

Where it looks like we are drafting, Shinkaruk seems to best fit the bill.

Florida is LOADED with talent. It wouldn't surpirse me if Tallon shops that pick.

I'm sure their fans are going to be devastated watching Drouin and MacKinnon for the next 15 years <_<

Didn't you hear? All the guys playing their hearts out now will always do that and we will be good next year. Just like last year when we surged and the year before that when we surged....

I can't be mad we are winning but it feels hollow

I'm not happy the Sabres have managed to screw up a top pick in the draft, but I'll be really pissed if this cute little run for 9th allows DR to keep his job.

If I'm Pegula, I'm thinking "so, the team that Darcy put together to start the season that he thought was a playoff team was a disaster, but after selling of numerous parts to basically concede the playoffs and ride out some development games, it actually got better?! Yeah, that's the guy that I want running my team. " Unfortunately, I'm not Pegula.

That's the only shred of hope I have to cling to.

No way Tallon shops it IMO. He'll shop other talent first.

We'll see, I'm curious what he does. Right now he's overloaded with guys coming up through the ranks, or just came up through the ranks. Last game there were nine guys in the lineup with less than 100 games. Only three guys have been on the team more than 4 four years and he has four guys 35+. Even with all this AND two of his top liners out almost all season, he was still pissed during an intermission interview the other night. I think he wants a couple of vets in their prime.

People kept saying Edmonton would move their recent picks too and they never have. Faced with the possibility of landing a stud prospect, these teams are going to take that player.

The ONLY 1st round bust that year in the top 29 picks?? You guessed it #12 NYR Hugh Jessiman. We're doomed. :w00t:

You forgot Zherdev at #4! And now, I eagerly await the "See! Top-5 picks aren't sure things!" posts

Well he was a bust in terms of where he was drafted, but I meant complete and total bust in that pick #12 produced the only guy in the top 29 picks to play < 150 games ( 2 to be exact) in the league. That will be just our luck.

To be fair, Jessiman blew out his knee while playing for Dartmouth later that year.

NICHUSHKIN and Lazar took huge jumps.

London Knights centre Bo Horvat rocketed up the charts in the International Scouting Service's April prospect rankings, released on Monday.

Reaching No. 10 in the scouting service's monthly ranking of the top eligible players for the 2013 NHL Draft after being ranked 24th in March, the six-foot centre impressed the ISS with his style of play.

The prospect report described Horvat as "London's most complete player" and added he possesses "decent size with good hockey skills in all areas of anyone's evaluation criteria. He is unselfish with the puck, he does not cheat in his own end, and also plays physically. He has clear leadership qualities."

The report also noted that Barkov's draft stock could be affected by a recent shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out of the coming under-18 World Hockey Championships in Sochi, Russia.

"He had maybe more to gain from the exposure this tournament brings than any other player outside of Nichushkin," the report said of Barkov. "You can bet the shoulder will be brought up by more than one NHL team during interviews and the combine."

Well looking at those rankings I think that if we draft 12/13th that Hunter Shinkaruk is probably the guy but who knows how the real draft boards will look come june

The real question is how long does Nichushkin last before somebody takes a chance on him? If Monahan and Lindolm are both gone, I'm all for the Sabres risking it.

A combo of Nichushkin and Grigs could be dynamic if he drops. Maybe TPegs could arrange a buyout his remaining KHL term.
