Interesting fact I read today is that the Mets have never won game 1 of the World Series. Now 0-5. They did win 2 of those previous 4 so I'm still optimistic. Now if Familia does more imitiations of Armando Benitez, then my optimism will quickly disappear. Overall, great start to the series. Should be close and competitive throughout. Quote

Glad to see Wright get a couple of base hits as well. He's only had a couple decent nights with the bat this entire post season. I'm sure he's still battling back from his back ailment though. Quote

Weave Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 This GMC commercial drives me crazy. Has anyone actually ever heard a pitcher referred to as a Rembrandt? What gets me about that commercial is the song they chose to back it. Eminence Front by the Who. A song about people hiding who they really are. A car maker creates a commercial about quality and backs it with a song about being a phony. Makes me wonder if a disgruntled marketing exec pulled a fast one. Quote

It's like the Viagra commercial with "I'm ready" as the background music. The lyric makes sense in context, but the rest of the song is about a guy getting hammered while carrying a gun and looking to shoot someone. Quote

Now, partisanship aside .... are / were you a Bulldog? I'm a Gator Dad, a couple of times over. I attended the FL GA game in, oh, 2004 ish. Ga over Fl that day. Edited November 1, 2015 by N'eo Quote
Thwomp! Posted November 1, 2015 Report Posted November 1, 2015 Goodbye, Mets 2 blown late inning leads. Armando Benitez is alive and well! Could easily be 3-1 the other way. Also Cespedes has killed them hitting, fielding, and now base running. Murphy has completely stopped hitting and still can't field. Keep making stupid mistakes against this Royals team and it's killing them. I have no faith that they can win 3 in a row. The biggest reason is I don't think Familia can be counted on at this point to save a game successfully. Quote

Neo Posted November 1, 2015 Report Posted November 1, 2015 Grateful .... LGR - we all have mind's eyes. I am picturing you as one Tasmanian Devil of a grad assistant making undergraduate heads spin. I'm doing it joyfully, for the record. "I got Liger for TA"! Quote
WildCard Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 I can't be the only one watching the madness that is Game 5 of the WS right now, right? Quote
Thwomp! Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Well Familia sets the World Series record with his 3rd blown save. Granted the last 2 were a wildfire already when he entered. :wallbash: I have to tip my hat to the Royals. They are relentless. Any little opening and they're all over it. Oh and some horrible errors and decisions by the Mets have been the difference in an extremely close series so far. Quote
