Sports Illustrated called and said I was probably going to be Sportsman of the Year, but it was going to take a long photo shoot and interview. I’m not proud of my recent perm and have a interpretive dance class at the interview time so I turned it down! No Thanks SI!!

Syndergaard is just the best.  His ongoing feud with Mr. Met is pretty much the last remaining reason twitter shouldn't be burned to the ground.

I know a lot of Americans who watched it.

I think the Bills should move to the CFL. It would be a lot more fun.

The CFL did have US based teams at one point.  The Ravens are probably the only team in the history of sports teams that have won the Championship in two different leagues of the same (sort of) sport.

They'd instantly be the 5th best team in the league!

Hey, a .500 team did just win the championship, so that may be the best plan for the Bills.

Yankees hire Aaron Boone as manager

Completely useless but kinda fun story...

I was in third grade when Boone hit the home run. The next day I went into art class and was given an assignment I didn’t like. I blew off the instructions and created a drawing of Boone hitting the walkoff. I was (and still am) severely limited in my artistic abilities, so I respect the hell out of our talented friends around here. But somehow this deviant drawing of mine was a miracle. My art teacher and the entire art department liked it so much that they put it on the cover of the art show invitation and made it the centerpiece of the districtwide display.

Pretty sure I threw it out when Boone tore his ACL.

Why the hell would he go there?

He doesn't want to make the playoffs on his first contact?

the Angels. And not because of Ohtani. I've got no ill will towards him for going there. I just still hate them for that rally monkey season. Mother !

The Yankees have traded for Stanton. Starlin Castro + going to Miami

There better be a lot plus going to Miami. Otherwise it's collusion. Stupid Red Sox sitting with their thumbs up their arse. There is now way they should have let this happen and anything other than 3 big bat's coming in this off-season should get Dombrowski fired. For sake already. Do something!!!

Stanton really backed them into a corner. St.Louis offered them an insanely good deal, and I'm sure other teams did as well. Though after reading what Miami got back, I can't help but wonder if Jeter is still on the payroll

@Ken_Rosenthal
The #Marlins’ return, in addition to Castro. No Clint Frazier. No top prospects.

@Joelsherman1
The  minor leaguers #Marlins are getting are Jorge Guzman and Jose Devers, who is Rafael Devers' cousin.

So Stanton + $35M = Castro + 2 B Prospects

That is just absurd.

So for you none baseball guys out there. That'd be like trading Ovechkin at 27 years old for O'Reilly and 2 2nd rounders

I have a feeling Bryce Harper will be a Red Sox for the 2019 Season

From Scott Boras to The Athletic

Scott Boras—Harper’s agent and a faithful reader—naturally disagrees, and he sent me his thoughts in an e-mail after I published the original version of this column.

“A Bronx opera . . . The Three Tenors . . . Hal’s genius, vision,” Boras said, referencing Yankees principal owner Hal Steinbrenner. “Alone the three were stars . . . now a galaxy of international popularity.”

All Three Tenors—ahem—are corner outfielders, but the Yankees conceivably could squeeze in Harper by rotating one of them into the DH spot each day, following the plan they are expected to implement with Gardner under contract through next season. The Washington Nationals, Harper’s current team, presumably would like to stage their own opera, but they can offer him and Boras their genius vision—and money—at a later date.

Judge is likely to be paid below market value until he is a free agent. One could argue Stanton also will be undervalued at the amount the Yankees will pay him, provided he continues producing the way he did in 2017. The best guess is the Yankees would prefer to sign third baseman Manny Machado to Harper once they get under the threshold and re-set their tax penalty, but a lot can change over the next 12 months.

Would anyone put it past the Yankees to trade Stanton to the Dodgers next off-season to clear a spot for Harper? The Dodgers’ luxury-tax issues will be less crippling then. Stanton still might welcome a chance to go home. And Harper, as a left-handed hitter, would provide better balance to the Yankees’ lineup.

Never happen? Well, the Yankees getting Stanton was never supposed to happen, either. Welcome to another wild off-season.

Congrats to Jeter on doing his old team a solid.

Jeter skipped the winter meetings :lol:

@Buster_ESPN
The Marlins are executing major franchise-changing deals, including the swap of their best player, and the head of baseball operations -- Derek Jeter -- should be at the winter meetings to explain the moves; it's a responsibility that comes with the title. He is not here.
