Next year should be a good year to clear out some guys that have been trending up. Only Mariano should get in out of the first time eligibles. That will put in Edgar Martinez. Bonds, The Rocket and Mussina should get in. Schilling. I hate that guy. Sosa getting so little of the vote is criminal. 600 home runs.

Bonds and Clemens need about 100 more votes each. Probably not next year but maybe 2020. If I were them and elected, I'd tell the HOF to shove it.

2020 is probably right. But 2020 is Jeter's year and the Hall and the BBWAA would never allow them on Derek Jeter's stage. I'd put $50 on that, right now. Matter of fact, Jeter may be the only player elected by the writers in 2020. Definitely no more than 3.

Clearly a deranged individual that has no idea of the gravity of his actions. I hope the insinuations I hear about how pedophiles are treated in prison are true. Because this dude cannot be ass raped enough.

His statement yesterday indicates otherwise.  Not that I have any sympathy for him.  But I think he "gets it."  20 years too late, unfortunately.

Jerry Sandusky has been isolated for his entire prison stay so far and so will Nassar. There is no justice.

You try solitary for 40 years and let me know how that's not justice.  Nassar will go insane in prison.  And I'm ok with that.

Nassar's letter that the judge read yesterday:

Let me begin: The federal judge went ballistic at sentencing...and spent 10% on the federal case and 90% on state cases...she gave me 60 years instead of 5-20 years. The prosecutor even admitted that I never belonged to any porn sites...was not on the dark web, and also, they could not prove I viewed it. It was all deleted of course. I shared my electronics, and of course, couldn’t prove that.

What I did in the state cases was medical, not sexual, but because of the porn I lost all credibility. So I’m trying to avoid a trial to save the stress to my community, my family...yet look what’s happening. It’s wrong. I was a good doctor, because my treatments worked and those patients that are now speaking out were the same ones that praised and came back over and over. The media convinced them that it was wrong and bad.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. The media is sensationalizing this. The [attorney general’s office] forced me to [plea guilty]. I was so manipulated by the AG, and now Aquilina, and all I wanted was to minimize stress to everyone. The FBI investigated [my Olympic treatments] in 2015 because nothing was wrong. Now they’re seeking the media attention and financial reward.

He definitely does not get it.

Perfect example of why education is needed for men and women on sexual topics such as consent. Also that man disgusts me. He sexually assaulted women for years and doesn't get it.  You think a 16yr old girl, battling to make her olympic dreams come true, is going to immediately question a man labeled as a "Doctor" when it comes to things? That isn't how power dynamics work.

What an insane line to say in these cases

That letter was written before he listened to his victims.

What he said after he listened to them for a week:

"There are no words that can describe the depth and breadth of how sorry I am for what has occurred," Nassar said. "An acceptable apology to all of you is impossible to write and convey. I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days."

The last sentence is what makes me think he gets it.  Again, WAY TOO LATE.

You're right. My letter was from 2 months ago. My bad. I'm glad listening to the words of 150 women made him realize that it was bad of him to finger them all under the guise of medical treatment. May he enjoy all the same treatment from his soon to be new friends for all 60 of his federal years and then for all 150 years of his new sentence. Scream yourself into madness, Larry.

I know that you're being partly sarcastic, but I actually think that the victim impact statements had, well, an impact.

He likely will scream himself into madness and he deserves that.

I have experience with the kiddie touchers. Not personal, but close enough. The sarcasm and dark humor helps to hold the violence back.

I think he was continuing to be manipulative. He’s a con man.

Not that it matters now. He’s out of society for the rest of his life.

I think you have too much confidence in the ability of sickos to be genuinely remorseful. If he feels bad it's for himself, not his victims.

Wonder if they'll do a better job than was done at ped state.

The Detroit Free Press published an article this past week about how the MSU situation is worse than the PSU situation because MSU failed to learn the lesson from PSU.  I think that's a good point.  And I wonder what else is going on at other schools around the country.

Take that and roll it up and weight it with what happened at Baylor too.

College sports is a bigger investment and a bigger business in this country than college education. You need to keep the cash cow paying out in any way possible. Children and women aren't going to slow them down because the university sees their lives as way less value than the revenue that these sports bring in.

University Police departments covering up crimes, coaches and advisors refusing to do anything about crimes that they are informed of. I'd be willing to wager this is happening in about 100 more D1 schools than people are willing to admit. But I'm the cynic and I think everyone out there is capable of this. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm gonna keep thinking it...

I wxpect that every big time D1 program has a closet full of skeletons.
