Hopefully his defensive improvements continue. He was top-six in quality of competition last year and saw the most defensive zone starts by far. I'd like to see him continue his development into a pretty good third line guy that plays with tenacity and meanness while doubling as a PK specialist. There's an important role for him there and fans love him.

just got the update on my Sabres app lol. sweet...now let's sign Doan...

I'm so impressed by that app. Most team apps give you the press release a day or two after it's done, but that app got it to me within minutes. :worthy:

Yeah the app told me as well - it is good. Although for a second my heart raced thinking it was Doan. Then i thought it was Ennis. Then i was content with Kaleta

Well I saw tweets first. But the app still got it to me quick.

And whoever said 3 years, 4 mill... I'd definitely do that. I think he's worth between 1 and 1.5 mill. Any more is probably overpaying.

I initially read this as Patrick Kane agreed to a multi-year deal in Buffalo--- nevermind how that would be accomplished.

Always interesting to see some advanced numbers. Stats like these tell a truer tale than +/- and the like. Assuming the money is right it's a good signing.

If I were Kevin Snow I would've tweeted "The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to a deal bringing Patrick Ka" and then watched everybody freak out before saying that my phone died mid-tweet and then finish it saying it was Patrick Kaleta.

Not bad. Has Ennis been given an offer yet? he is next, right? what will he command/demand?

Just his qualifying offer, don't think he's been offered a longer term deal. I'm thinking something along the lines of 3 years $9 million, maybe a little less like $8 million. I would say two years, but I doubt they want an offseason needing to re-sign Ennis (still RFA), Pominville, Vanek and Miller.

Pretty cheap. He's a punk so I hope he dials it down a bit, particularly with the disciplinary people keeping an eye on him.....but still a good piece to keep long-term.

He dialed it down a lot last season. He got called for a lot of non-penalties imo (and i try and be as objective as posible over penalties)

Good. I'm glad the Sabres are keeping him and I'm happy for Patty, who certainly leaves it all out there. I'd be quite happy to see him get Roy's letter.

That'd be an interesting move by Lindy. Give the heart and soul guy an A. I like it.

Since 7-1-07, Pat Kaleta has more playoff goals than Drew Stafford. And, he twirls his fist and punches the glass when he scores.

If he can keep his composure like he did last year that would be okay by me
