Iron Crotch Posted November 23, 2017 Report Posted November 23, 2017 Good article on the Player's Tribune from Christian Pulisic on the USMNT and the World Cup miss. He mentions a lot of the same stuff we talked about here, allowing our best players to train with the big European club academies instead of being a star in the weaker US leagues. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/christian-pulisic-usmnt-world-cup/ Pulisic is absolutely right IMHO. If we want a world class national team, our player pool has to come from the best leagues in the world. I want to see the best young American players in MLS (like Tyler Adams and Kellyn Acosta) head over to Europe to compete against the best. Fortunately, I think we have more young talent in Europe right now then we've had in our history. We should have a much more dangerous team in the next World Cup cycle.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 30, 2017 Author Report Posted November 30, 2017 TFC!! They did their part to set up a rematch with Seattle, which looks very likely at this point. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/mls/columbus-crew-toronto-fc-east-final-mls-cup-1.4425812

Sabel79 Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 They announced last night that Nashville, Detroit, Sacramento and Cincinnati are the four finalists for the next two expansion spots. Yeesh.

sabills Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 Even better, get me a USL team that can play against the Rhinos, then make relegation/promotion be a thing.
darksabre Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 Even better, get me a USL team that can play against the Rhinos, then make relegation/promotion be a thing. That would be fun too.
darksabre Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 Speaking of the Rhinos, just announced they're taking a one year hiatus. Won't play this season.

That Aud Smell Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 The 2018 groups have been determined: A: Russia, Uruguay, Egypt, Saudi Arabia B: Portugal, Spain, Iran, Morocco C: France, Peru, Denmark, Australia D: Argentina, Croatia, Iceland, Nigeria E: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Serbia F: Germany, Mexico, Sweden, Korea Republic G: Belgium, England, Tunisia, Panama H: Poland, Colombia, Senegal, Japan Group A is a joke - average FIFA ranking is 45!! Jesus Christmas. It's as though FIFA doesn't even care that people will say that a fix was in to ensure Russia advances. Not surprised seeing as Russia is in there. Yep. Can't tell which one is the group of death, or if there even is one I know nothing of FIFA rankings. D and H look gnarly. Frickin' figures that Argentina would get a tough draw, if so. I'm pulling for Messi.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 2, 2017 Author Report Posted December 2, 2017 FIFA is a joke. Russia is a pretty good side, but they are 99.9999999999999999% sure of advancing to the knock out stage. Sorry Arabia and Eygpt, but you are the lambs at Eid this time around.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 2, 2017 Author Report Posted December 2, 2017 So, the rematch is set. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/mls/houston-dynamo-seattle-sounders-west-final-mls-cup-1.4427683 I just hope it's not decided on penalties like last year. GO TFC!!
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 3, 2017 Author Report Posted December 3, 2017 Everton showing signs of life and is now in the middle of the EPL tables. Some breathing room between themselves and the relegation line. You all can breath a bit easier for now.

Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 3, 2017 Author Report Posted December 3, 2017 Can't tell which one is the group of death, or if there even is one Possibly D, or maybe F. No group is a clear death group.
Huckleberry Posted December 3, 2017 Report Posted December 3, 2017 my favourites to win France, Brazil and Germany a tier Below Belgium, Colombia, Croatia, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico.
darksabre Posted December 3, 2017 Report Posted December 3, 2017 Everton showing signs of life and is now in the middle of the EPL tables. Some breathing room between themselves and the relegation line. You all can breath a bit easier for now. We've managed some wins against the real bottom of the barrel, which has been much needed. We're going to play better squads at some point and we'll be hanging on for dear life.
