Two or less Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 As his agent reveals, defenseman Kevin Porter has signed with the Buffalo Sabres. Link-
tom webster Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Link- https://twitter.com/...975726046879744 Hopefully his agent knows he doesn't play defense. There was a time when he was a much sought after college free agent. Sorry my memory is fading. He wasn't a college free agent but he was a late bloomer in college and considered a top prospect for Phoenix when he signed.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Reliable? If true ... something really has to give.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Wikipedia Page already updated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Porter_%28ice_hockey%29
Lanny Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Perhaps fits as a 3rd or 4th line center?..or in Rochester
dEnnis the Menace Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Who is Kevin Porter?! nvm...looked him up.
obstructedorangeseats Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 He's not a dman, correct? Wikipedia lists him as a center.

Sabres Fan in NS Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 It's such huge news that it's not up on the Sabres' web site yet.
shrader Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Hello Rachacha. Nice signing for them. Exactly. His best case scenario would probably be the guy who gets to shuttle back and forth down the 90 when the injuries pile up.
Peppy22 Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 That's gotta be our Number 1 Center blockbuster signing :D
26CornerBlitz Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Exactly. His best case scenario would probably be the guy who gets to shuttle back and forth down the 90 when the injuries pile up. Is he Chewy's replacement?
nobody Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 As I wrote in the FAF thread last night: Potential 4th line center for the team. Porter was the 07-08 Hobey Baker winner. Based on what I read; he is a smart player that can play any of the forward positions and knows how to play the 2-way game. Not sure if he qualifies for the upcoming development camp.
shrader Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Is he Chewy's replacement? I think that is what he'll hope to be, except getting called up a few more times.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 Porter was suspended 4 games last year for this:
nfreeman Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 A UFA center is signed and the thread isn't pinned? Are the Sabres that awesome of a team that we're just going to shrug this off? If Griggy doesn't make the team (although I heard an interview with an NHL draft writer today predicting that he would be one of 3 draftees to make it), Porter could very well be the Sabres' #3 center this fall. Give the man some respect. He had a great college career and no doubt is coming here intending on competing for an NHL job.
nobody Posted July 5, 2012 Report Posted July 5, 2012 It is possible to have a great camp. Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC An assumption after talking with Ron Rolston: Unless Kevin Porter has a great camp with the #Sabres, he'll start with the #Amerks. #Amerks coach Ron Rolston knows Kevin Porter very well. Got to NTDP after Porter left "but I recruited him when I was still at (Bos. Coll)."

He's exactly the type of player we all fall in love with after a mid December injury callup. He'll provide a spark when needed, and who knows what else. It may be an uphill climb for him to make it outright but the reinforcements can be as vital as the regulars, as we all know too well: Kevin Oklobzija @kevinoDandC An assumption after talking with Ron Rolston: Unless Kevin Porter has a great camp with the #Sabres, he'll start with the #Amerks.

Mueller and him came over from Phoenix to Colorado in the Wolski trade. They are great friends, Mueller showed so much promise, I wonder if the Sabres are looking at him as well. High risk, but high reward if Mueller can overcome the concussion problems.
