nobody Posted June 23, 2012 Author Report Posted June 23, 2012 From sabresprospects.com Linus Ullmark – G, 6’3, 198 lbs., Modo (SWE Jr) Big and raw, the talented Ullmark enters his second draft year after an excellent season with Modo’s J20 squad that saw him post a solid 2.76 goals against average and .918 save percentage with the storied franchise. Ullmark’s play steadily improved throughout the season and into the playoffs, where he sparkled with a 2.24 GAA, .927 sv%, and one shutout in five starts. Growing up dreaming of playing for Modo’s top club, Ullmark got his wish at the Christmas break when he was called in to back up Mikael Tellqvist while Anton Forsberg was away at the U20s. When Telllqvist fell ill, Ullmark was thrust into his first start as an 18-year old on two hours notice and held up well in an OT loss to Lulea. While the bottleneck kept him buried most of the year, we’re still giving Ullmark a good shot to be drafted by the Sabres and an equally good chance to earn a larger SEL role with Modo before coming to North America.

Far more of the typical Swedish bodytype than Enroth has. Any chance Jhonas' parents emigrated to Sweden?

Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Why does this name sound so familiar? Linus Omark, perhaps? http://oilers.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8474059
darksabre Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Sounds like Enroth isn't the future of the Sabres
nobody Posted June 23, 2012 Author Report Posted June 23, 2012 Paul Hamilton saying he could be a Pekka Rinne type. But that of course means we're still talking about 3-4 years from now.
Taro T Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Paul Hamilton saying he could be a Pekka Rinne type. But that of course means we're still talking about 3-4 years from now. If he truly is a Pekka Rinne, that would work wonderfully. Ride Miller (or Hiller, yeah the Sabres would most likely have to pony up something additional, but that rumor was way too good to be true unfortunately) for 3 more, and then let Enroth back up the new NHL sized goalie.
nobody Posted June 23, 2012 Author Report Posted June 23, 2012 DEVINE SAYS: “With all the scouts that we hired last year, one of the scouts we hired was a guy named Fredrik Andersson, who was a former general manager with Modo – and he’s a former goalie and goalie coach in that league. When we made the hires over there, one of the things we wanted to do was look especially at Finland and Sweden to see if we can get some of those late round guys like Pekka Rinne into our organization. We had him over for our combine also. Another scout Toby O’Brien – also a former goalie – liked him as well, so we thought it would be a good pick.”
sabres4life19 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 in the mean time we can see if Knapp or Lieuwen develop in roch assuming they're years ahead of a raw 6th round pick
shrader Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Sounds like Enroth isn't the future of the Sabres This has zero to do with anyone currently with the sabres. They have very few options in the organization right now for the future. This is a roll of the dice pick, hoping they luck there way into something. A sixth round pick says absolutely nothing about anyone currently in the NHL.

Bullwinkle III Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Something tells me that this kid won't be a dud.
todzilla Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 The additional spending of the Pegula era (hiring more scouts) could be paying off in this case.
