Trettioåtta Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 If Grigs doesn't work out, i doubt DR ever drafts outside NA again :P
TrueBlueGED Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 @fakedarcy Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall. We're back in business with the Russians! #Sabres
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
IKnowPhysics Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Good stuff. All hail Russia. With 2 1st round picks and no one to trade to, why not take the Russian gamble a little? He'll add something we need: size up the middle. Bonus: Sabres jersey has his name stitched on it, maybe they had always considered him.
JJFIVEOH Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Just what we need, to wait another 2 years to address our size at center.
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Last time the Sabres took a Russian in the first? The Artem Kruikov nightmare?
frissonic Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 WHOOOOO!!!! 6' 3", 200 pounds. talented as hell. holy sh** ... i can't stop smiling.
darksabre Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Just what we need, to wait another 2 years to address our size at center. Shut up, this is a great pick.
Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Vodka for everyone! I'm going to the kitchen to make some borscht.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 So happy to have grigs, gonna be a great player for us. He really could be the steal of the draft
darksabre Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Asking the bartender for a shot of vodka right now!
Weave Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 High risk, high reward, right? Not a typical Darcy-type decision.
Weave Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 http://www.hockeyprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1333 Wrapping this up now, I'll say this in a more summarized form: Grigorenko is a clear top-two talent in the 2012 draft class. Based on scouts that I've talked to, my own observations and other observers throughout a good portion of the draft year, this seemed to be a shared thought. Grigorenko's on-ice work ethic problems have never been anything new, yet were never considered anything major enough to truly devalue him. It looked very accentuated towards the end of the season, however I'm skeptical of using that kind of sample to assess a player. It should be noted during an evaluation of him and used as a clear debit, but considering all the other tremendous qualities he possesses, I don't buy the argument Grigorenko isn't anything short of an elite prospect. I'll admit right here and now, I have concerns about how well Lindy meshes with this kid. But damn it sure is nice to hear about elite level talent coming to Buffalo.
Brawndo Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Just listened to his interview on GR, said he feels sorry from the teams that did pass on him.
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 http://www.hockeypro...?articleid=1333 I'll admit right here and now, I have concerns about how well Lindy meshes with this kid. But damn it sure is nice to hear about elite level talent coming to Buffalo. Oh crap, you're right. I doubt Lindy's "I'm a super badass" style will go over well with a Russian who may or may not have attitude problems.
inkman Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 I'm a little drunk but the interview made me well up a bit.
