TrueBlueGED Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Just what we need, to wait another 2 years to address our size at center. Trade Roy, plug him in. He's talented enough. Go young, get him experience, aim for 2013-14 contention. The best part is he won't understand half of Ruff's yelling :P
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Is there a veteran Russian player the Sabres can pick up to mentor Grigorenko? It definitely seems like it'd be worth the investment given the potential upside.

Eleven Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Just what we need, to wait another 2 years to address our size at center. Apparently that isn't happening tonight. July 1, maybe, but doubtful. I guess the three second-line centers might have to reach down and find 'em, because it sure doesn't look like Malkiin was available today, and Staal obviously had an agenda.
millbank Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 sabre deal coming up talking with Jay Fester
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Between Armia last year and Grigorenko now, the Sabres are loading up on big, super talented forwards who could turn into stars or amount to absolutely nothing.
Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Darcy doing some back room dealing? Nice!
fiftyone Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Is there a veteran Russian player the Sabres can pick up to mentor Grigorenko? I might just be upset that we were so close to being able to take Forsberg and missed out, but something isn't sitting right with Grigorenko. I know he's got the talent, but there's just something there...

And I love it! I mean in all seriousness, unless you suck enough to get a top-5 or top-3 pick...you have to go the boom or bust route unless you get exceptionally lucky. ^Pavel Datsyuk. Make it happen Darcy. On a serious note, I'm having trouble with the attitude/consistency issues. I might just be upset that we were so close to being able to take Forsberg and missed out, but something isn't sitting right with Grigorenko. I know he's got the talent, but there's just something there... Again, for one last time...he HAD MONO LAST YEAR! Could you imagine playing hockey with mono? It wasn't until his lethargic second half of the season where the effort questions popped up....when he had mono. I don't think it's a coincidence.
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Semin? I kid I kid! At the very least I'm sure Pegula will get him an interpreter to help him along. Interpreter is a given, but I really wish we have at least one other Russian player for him to talk to. Just a solid veteran depth guy would be perfect. It easily seems worth the investment given Grigorenko's potential. Hilarious. NBC Sports ends coverage of the draft to show the Olympic track trials. We didn't even make it halfway through the first round. Maybe that clock was a good idea after all....
JJFIVEOH Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Live feed? Anybody? U-Verse doesn't carry the NHL Network, WTF!!!
Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Holy crap! We are up to #14 now! Who do we take???
sabres1970 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 At this point I don't know anyone so I have my blind faith in Darcy.
Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 I freaking love this move. Two top-15 picks?!
