Eleven Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 TSN announcer describing Tom Wilson Ok. Thanks. I'll cool it on that front.
Iron Crotch Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Stan Bowman on the clock... used to play baseball with him when I was a kid.
TrueBlueGED Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Wow, Grigorenko's english is incredible seeing as he just started learning less than a year ago.
Eleven Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 I think the Sharks just drafted the only player available with the same hair style as their head coach. Cleveland? I didn't know they still had a team.
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 You can be more than pretty certain. I guess the deals just weren't there, since other teams didn't make them, either. Our team could be pretty awesome in 2015: Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia, Hodgson, Ennis, Foligno, Adam, Myers, Pysyk, McNabb, Gauthier-Leduc
Eleven Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Wow, Grigorenko's english is incredible seeing as he just started learning less than a year ago. "It's a good team with good history, Dominik Hasek was goalie, they made the finals many times, I know a lot of good things about Buffalo."
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Wow, Grigorenko's english is incredible seeing as he just started learning less than a year ago. He sounds really good so far in the WGR interview.....in terms of what he's saying, not just his English. Example: "The teams that didn't draft me....too bad for them." Very happy to be with the Sabres and apparently they talked to him quite a bit leading up to the draft.

And I want to win now. With Pommer, with Miller, with Vanek, Myers and Ehrhoff. July 1-3 had better be good.
cdexchange Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Said he does not want to play in the KHL, hasn't had any contact with any teams from that league. Of course he's gonna say that...but it's still nice to hear.

July 1-3 had better be good. My honest opinion? They've identified they can't win with the current lineup, and with the reportedly obscene trade demands for established upgrades (I'm sorry, Rick Nash is not worth every valuable organizational asset like they're asking teams for), a few years down the road may actually be their best chance to contend.
Taro T Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 Yes. And the Sabres have made the finals many times. 4 times since '98. (If you're counting the Conference Finals as 'the Finals.' Yeah, neither am I.)

I don't think our current core is winning anything even if we trade all our picks/prospects to add a couple new guys.

This is a better way of saying what I was just trying to say.

That was the conclusion I came to as well. Then again, I've felt for some time that they can't win with the current core so I might be prone to coming to that conclusion. :P
TrueBlueGED Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 On Grigorenko, let's assume there are some attitude problems. When asked about being passed over, he said "Too bad for teams that didn't draft me"....if that puts a real chip on his shoulder, that's great news. I hope he's as bitter and vindictive about it as guys like MJ and Thurman were.

They should just have read my posts and started the conversion earlier.
TrueBlueGED Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 They should just have read my posts and started the conversion earlier. Yea, but then they wouldn't have been able to make these picks since they'd have fired themselves and shipped themselves off to a deserted island.
Robviously Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 The Girgensons interview on WGR right now is spectacular. Cites Ryan Kessler as someone he models his game after.

The problem is Stafford, Roy, and every other complacent player. If they're not going to rebuild, and if they're not going to get rid of the rot in the core, hell, weave, you can coach the team.

I don't think our current core is winning anything even if we trade all our picks/prospects to add a couple new guys. 1. I agree, Buffalo is more than 1 to 2 moves away from contending right now (note the "contending in place of winning"). I will say they addressed the future, if the KHL doesn't interfere at some point and time. 2. I also agree our current core won't be successful, but this is where we disagree. I believe the off season is just beginning, and I firmly believe Regier will have a much better roster in place when the season starts. And that, coming from a "fire Regier" proponent.
millbank Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 in playing for Quebec Remparts , his coach was Patrick Roy, he coach, team one with a attitude. He dealt with a great deal of talk of not showing up, it turned out when tested reason for excellent season and poor playoff was he had mononucleosis. This guy will make Sabre fans very happy sooner than later...
