tom webster Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 I still remember that hat trick against the Bruins. I thought he was going to be special. Rest in Peace.
Meathead Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 off in the distance you can hear the faint sound of endboard glass shattering
Marvelo Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 whoa, there's another part of my childhood gone. At only 48. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTH/Rest-In-Peace-Paul-Cyr/6/44497
X. Benedict Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 off in the distance you can hear the faint sound of endboard glass shattering He had a hard, hard, shot. And yes it usually hit the glass or went 20 rows up. RIP.
Carmel Corn Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Maybe some irony here. When Cyr was drafted, I remember him being touted as the next "Rico Martin" based on his shooting ability. He never lived up to that, but I still liked him as a player. What a shame that both had heart-related problems and died young.
bunomatic Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 Paul Cyr. Good Vancouver Island boy. Made a lot of Victorians proud. R.I.P.
fan2456 Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 Condolences to his family! I’m I pulling a Clement’s misremembering moment, or wasn’t he shot in Mexico or somewhere similar while on vacation during his stint here?
Weave Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 Condolences to his family! I’m I pulling a Clement’s misremembering moment, or wasn’t he shot in Mexico or somewhere similar while on vacation during his stint here? I'm pretty sure it was well after his stint in Buffalo but , yeah, Cyr was shot in the ass in Mexico I recall. Seems to me that speculation was a drug buy gone bad or something.
fan2456 Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 Just read Buff News. Too busy today with great weather. Shot in "in abdomen in in 1987 in Dominican Republic by a taxi driver." I thought it was his leg also. Yea, remember the drug thing too.
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 R.I.P, and thanks for playing for the sabres.
bob_sauve28 Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 RIP man. That hat trick, was Pete Peters the goalie?
That Aud Smell Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 sad news - may perpetual light shine upon his face. with that out of the way, i will say two things: 1. born when i was, cyr was the player that all of the girls adored during the middle school years. sure, there were some who were partial to sean mckenna or andreychuk -- but cyr was the real heart throb. 2. didn't he once use ray borque as a punching bag? EDIT: well, it was a good scrap anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xixzU0L74C0 also: nice to see schoenfeld make an appearance at :29.
