Mango Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 I have been pumped to go see moe. at Pier 17 in NYC. Very cool rooftop venue under the Brooklyn. But the bass players son just died and they cancelled their next couple of festivals already. If they cancel I will be bummed in a very minor way and if they play it will also be sad. Quote

ska-T Palmtown Posted June 3 Report Posted June 3 (edited) I am a basic bish, so definitely seeing Metallica this summer in Chicago. Wife and I also have tickets to see the Violent Femmes play an outdoor show with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra - that one is at a festival (?) grounds north of the city that hosts 3-4 concerts a week. The fun part is getting lawn seats and bringing a full picnic and bar cart to the show 🙂 Covid times - really just a year or so of no social obligations more than fear of infection, etc - really did a number on my social stamina. Before I was going out between 2 and 4 nights a week with friends and probably a show (big or small) every other week on average. Now, eating dinner on the couch and watching Netflix/Hulu/Prime sounds just as appealing, lol. edit: I have seen Metallica 15+ times already, and will continue to see their shows until they retire. Such a great live show with intense energy! Edited June 3 by ska-T Chitown 2 1 Quote
freester Posted June 15 Report Posted June 15 (edited) Just saw an REM tribute band. Dead Letter Office. The band members are from WNY. I saw them in Woodstock, Ga and they were outstanding. If you like REM you will enjoy. Edited June 15 by freester 2 1 Quote

Ducky Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 I'd like to go see Neil when he plays here but $260.00 is the cheapest ticket. My 3 biggest disappointments regarding concerts are Neil, Dylan and CSN&Y. Quote
TheAud Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 Went to the Stones concert at Empower Field in Denver tonight. I have seen them before but wanted to share the experience with my youngest child who is 20. We had an excellent time and although Ronnie Wood and Keith are doing well for ~80 years old, Mick is clearly a mutant or cyborg or something to be like he still is at 80 years old. It was fun and a great memory with my daughter. 1 Quote

I’m 15 years old and my older brother and friends are getting tickets. It would be my first concert and I want to go so bad, but my parents had a “rule” about being 16 before going to a concert without them. After much pleading, my parents reconsidered, saying “Well ya know, they may never tour again.” 😂. I’m 57 and retired now, and they’re still touring! 🎸 🥁 🎶 2 Quote

rickshaw Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Just back home from 2 weeks in Switzerland. Saw my boys, AC/DC there for the 17th time. Don’t know how they do it but they rocked and rolled like nobody’s business. Angus is still Angus and Brian Johnson has some big b⚡️lls singing that style at 76. Great show. Hope for NA tour announcement soon so I can plan on 18 and maybe more. 2 Quote

That Aud Smell Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Better late than never. I accompanied my better half to Sarah McLachlan's show at Artpark last month. (It was a billion degrees out.) It was a great show - she was featuring the entirety of her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album. One thing that surprised, and frankly delighted me, about McLachlan. That gal's got a potty mouth. So, when she dropped gratuitous f-bombs during her between song banter, and that vulgar language stood in contrast to her ethereal beauty (see the pic), I must say ... I was digging it. Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted July 17 Report Posted July 17 At Ameris Bank Amphitheater seeing John Waite, Foreigner (or the cover band allowed to call themselves Foreigner) and Styx. 1 Quote
Derrico Posted July 28 Report Posted July 28 Taking Back Sunday was pretty awesome at River Works tonight. First time attending a concert at that venue and great way to repurpose the old grain silos. That place had a really cool vibe and great views of the city walking back. Can’t believe TBS didn’t understand what the crowd was saying when the bills make me want to shout song broke out. Quote
Weave Posted July 30 Author Report Posted July 30 Slash in Lewiston tonight. Blues show with Keb Mo. should be a great show. Bonus- Met Rick Dudley while pregaming in the village. Quote

SwampD Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 Outdoor concerts in WNY in the summertime,… not sure it gets any better than that. Quote
Weave Posted July 31 Author Report Posted July 31 (edited) Just got home. I was cursed somewhere along the way. Getting it out of the way….. the 4 bands were terrific. Keb Mo was worth the price of admission all by himself. And Slash? If anyone can turn a blues set heavy and ballsy, it’s Slash. Loud, heavy, and masterful guitar work. *chef’s kiss* But I was cursed somewhere along the way. Bought these tickets when the show was first announced. My wife wanted to go with my son and I. Not sure why. She’s never been to a proper rock show. She’s been to a few pop type shows. Maybe it was bonding time with our son. Maybe it was jealousy of the stories and smiles we always come home with. Whatever it was, she insisted she wanted to go. So I sprung for 3 tix. A couple of weeks ago she announced she is not going and is going to spend the evening with our daughter in law instead. There it is, omen 1. I offered the ticket to a buddy, who accepted. A week ago my buddy calls and has to decline. He had a fall and busted up his knee. He’s out. Another buddy couldn’t take the ticket. I might have to eat this one. Omen 2. Friday my son informs me he is out too. Covid. *****. Omen 3. I told My wife that I am going solo and she said, nope she’s going too since hanging with DIL is out now that covid is in their house. Omen 4. Plan was to leave our house at 1, pregame in the village for a bit, head to the venue shortly after the gate opens, and enjoy the show. We both took Wednesday off so we could enjoy the show and not fuss over getting home. Wife couldn’t get out of work until 3. We rushed in to Lewiston, ate a meal, managed to cross paths with Rick Dudley, and headed for ArtPark. Gates opened at 4:30, show starts at 5:30. Not the leisurely afternoon off I hoped, but adapt and overcome, right? In the gate, pick out a good spot, first band is already underway, and the skies open up for a good 15 minute downpour. We are soaked. I’m smiling and happy (like Swamp said, it doesn’t get any better than outdoor concerts) and the wife has a look that could freeze steel. She is not comfortable in soaking wet clothes and not interested in finding a way to enjoy it despite the adversity. We did manage to get to about 2/3 of the way through Slash’s set before it became obvious that staying any longer was at my own peril. I enjoyed myself anyway, but it wasn’t what the evening could have been. You win some, you lose some. Edited July 31 by Weave 1 Quote

Doohicksie Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 I don't think there's any rain in the forecast for north Texas until October. And when it's 103°F, if it does rain, it evaporates before it hits the ground! (Plus, the concert is indoors.) Quote
Doohicksie Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 A story: When my wife was 10, she went from Albany to Syracuse by herself on a Greyhound Bus. Her dad put her on the bus in Albany and her aunt collected her in Syracuse. Her aunt took her to the State Fair, where the Osmonds were singing that night. So her first concert was Donny Osmond. I've seen him in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and he his a helluva singer and entertainer. I'm just not too keen on his style of music. But I can put up with it for a night. Quote
