What about Nash To The Sabres?

I do not think Nash is a good idea. He is good, sometimes very good, but hardly elite. He has a huge cap hit, 7.8 million. We would have to give up a lot of assets to get him. Rumor has it he does not want to come here.

I would rather spend the draft picks on prospects and sign the best UFA for the money. Parise is my top choice.

Wing is more a luxury than a priority.

If I'm Darcy I talk to Chicago about a guy like Dave Bolland for another 2nd or 3rd line type center, (Roy and a Pick...Roy and a defensemen?) and also I'm talking to Western teams about a more blockbuster center.

The ideal offseason would add two centers.

For a net increase of 1, correct?

I was thinkging adding two new ones that aren't in the organization independent of whether Roy or Adam get moved.

Ennis

Hodgson

New Guy

Roy

Adam

Roy out of the lineup? Or would you add a center to be the 13th forward? I don't see how Roy stays on the team with 2 additional centers.

Roy can also play wing, and special teams. The idea is to create a situation were he has to compete for the job. Ideally you would have enough depth at center

where he could potentially get bumped to wing.

For example....if he was a Penguin that's were he would be playing.

I support this 100%

Why would you have a guy making $4.5m (I think) competeing for a job? Why not trade him to another team for a nautral wing or PK guy?

I've been behind this idea for a while now. They need a net gain of 2 centers this offseason. Get this team to the point where they have a center or two on the wing who can shift over when the injury bug hits. And we're talking legit centers here, not Jochen Hecht. They had that coming out of the lockout and they need it now.

Roy played wing when Briere and Drury were here...and if forcing him to compete for a job makes him a better player, then why not?

To quote Roy 'its better when there is less pressure'.

On the ice it's not so nice

So I want to live in the

City of Good Neighbors.

I don't think that name applies to the

Senators or Predators.

So I'll choose the Sabres.

Ogden Nash to Buffalo.

Wonderful ...

I thought this was the Nash thread, not the CENTER HOLY GRAIL thread.

Sharks with another disappointing early exit. They have to be willing to make some big changes. A Miller+ package for Clowe and Pavelski? Miller, Roy, Sekera and the 2 #1's for Clowe, Pavelski and Nick Petrecki (defensive prospect)? I say get it done.

If Darcy could pull the Jedi Mind Trick again and trade Vanek for Nash straight up, I'd be all for it.

Like all Canadian power forwards, Nash has an overblown superstar aura, but the reality is that his production is not in line with his elite salary. Regardless, I still think he would be an awesome addition to the team, and as long as Lindy is never getting fired, I think it's time to move Vanek. He and Ruff just don't work together.

Nash and Vanek are similarly overpaid. Trading Vanek for Nash would be a double change-of-scenery move that could benefit both parties, and it would be a virtual wash on the salary cap end of things. And we all know that money is not the issue anymore.

Basically, I would like to see Vanek traded straight up for another elite scoring left wing in need of a change, and I think Nash fits the description better than anyone else. And can you honestly justify that Darcy would need to offer more than Vanek in trade? Looking at the numbers, I don't think so.

I wouldn't say goaltending is their biggest issue, they don't have a player who shines in the playoffs. To be fair we really don't have a huge amount of them either. Look at Marleau, hugely skilled player but 0 points and a -1, in fact I probably wouldn't want to deal with them this offseason.
