darksabre Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_t2 It only took 2 comments to bring us into it, BTW... Sports and Politics, the Liberal Agenda to support illegal immigration. What is wrong with people?
Campy Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Some years ago I read a similar article that looked at where the author pointed out something that I've since heard myself and other doing: When the team does something well or speaking optimistically, it's "us." When the team does poorly or something negative is being said, it's "they." The author claimed that we want to belong to and identify with a team when things are positive, but when things go south, we want to make sure everyone knows "it wasn't me." Listen more closely the next time you're in the neighbourhood pub and people are talking sports - you'll hear it.
darksabre Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 That's actually been a topic of discussion here before. This idea of referring to the team as "we" during GDT posts and such. "We gotta win this one tonight." It's this concept of us putting ourselves on the bench with the rest of the team. We're one of them.
I am Defecting Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 12th man, baby! I remember, playing sports, that the crowd can give you a boost. And when you're in the crowd, its more fun to think that you are making a difference.
