fan2456 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I'm trying to behave and be conservative. I even said Miller might be a top 5-10 goalie. If you needed a goalie right now, would you rather have Miller over Lundqvist, Quick, Brodeur or Smith? That's only 4! Got it. Would take Miller over Brodeur, on age alone. Hasek was always better than Brodeur. While he (Brodeur) put up great numbers, he regularly faced less than twenty shots per game during the 90's. I watched Rangers tackle caps all over the ice last night. Tough to judge how good a goalie is when a team is commited to tackling and mugging, which the "playoff" rules allow. Unfortunately, the Sabres aren't built to tackle either. I don't think this team has an identity, I don't think Darcy has a vision.
SwampD Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I really think it needs to be said again, the entire crowd wearing white when your team is wearing [sedona Red] is beyond stupid. How much more powerful an image would it be in that arena if the crowd was wearing [sedona Red]. Looks like an LA home game.

The Kings had about a billion shots in that game. Bonkers.
Eleven Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 So while I'm not entirely out of "work jail," I did get out, and I did get to see my first playoff game in over a week, tonight. All I can say is that Quick has the Sochi 2014 job locked up as far as I'm concerned. Damn, he's good.

I've been following him for a few years now, and if I can afford it I'll be buying his Team USA jersey. Probably my favorite non-roleplayer in the game right now. I'm hoping Foligno convinces me to buy his jersey before then.
TrueBlueGED Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Took the words out of my mouth. That didn't make any sense. The Kings had about a billion shots in that game. Bonkers. That was a thorough shellacking. As great as Mike Smith has been, unless Phoenix can find a way to generate more offensive pressure, this might end up being a short series. Good, then Crosby can beat us from the red line instead of in close  If I'm handicapping, Quick is obviously the favorite; Quick-Miller-Schneider is my money at the moment. But it's still 2 years off, so who the hell knows what happens by then.
qwksndmonster Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I'm still incredibly impressed with the Kings. Dustin Brown is just an absolute beast and a great hockey player. TrueBlueGED Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I'd bet Quick-Jimmy Howard- Schneider in 2 years. Howard's numbers a bit better than Miller's. Correction: Howard's numbers were a little better this season, and only this season. Unless Miller plays like he did from mid-Nov to mid-Jan for the next two seasons, he's going to be on the team. And I'd put a significant amount of money on that.
RazielSabre Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I'd bet Quick-Jimmy Howard- Schneider in 2 years. Howard's numbers a bit better than Miller's. Schneider. A backup goalie. And you guys are arguing about Howard or Miller.
darksabre Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Schneider. A backup goalie. And you guys are arguing about Howard or Miller. Psh, joke's on you. It's Miller who is the backup goalie. :P
apuszczalowski Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Schneider. A backup goalie. And you guys are arguing about Howard or Miller. Starter next year, Lou is gone in Vancouver and the fans will rejoice cause it opens the door for the new goaltending Saviour in Schneider

Theres still the problem of scoring goals for you guys...............you guys were lucky Miller played so well and carried you to silver...............
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 What odds can I get that the US will not field a team in the 2014 Olympics?
shrader Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Starter next year, Lou is gone in Vancouver and the fans will rejoice cause it opens the door for the new goaltending Saviour in Schneider And then we get to see how he reacts to a full time NHL work load.

If the Sabres ever make the playoffs again I hope they stay away from the white t-shirt. I'd go different sections having blue and gold or all gold would be good (sadly Nashville did get to do that before the Sabres).
TrueBlueGED Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 What odds can I get that the US will not field a team in the 2014 Olympics? I'll give you any odds you want. I'd bet everything I own the US fields a team...now, whether it is made up of NHL players or not, that's another issue :P
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but I noticed an interesting little circumstance with the remaining 4 teams. LA Kings - Captain: Dustin Brown - American (WNY Native) NY Rangers - Captain: Ryan Callahan - American (WNY Native) NJ Devils - Captain: Zach Parise - American PHX Coyotes - Captain: Shane Doan - Canadian (But what a great story that would be) pretty cool to see a potential final featuring two captians from our area!

Heck, London is a ways off.

His first two years as a starter he had worse numbers than Miller in those seasons. His only statistically superior season was this year, and even then, the difference wasn't that big depending on whether you think save % or GAA is a better indicator (.42 less GAA, but only .04 higher save %). And Howard's playoff numbers have been worse than Miller for the past 2 years (have to exclude this year for obvious reasons).
TrueBlueGED Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 What a play by McDonagh on Parise. Phenomenal.
fan2456 Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Two periods down and I find River Monsters more exciting during the commercials and intermission then watching the game. Rangers style, while effective, won't grow this sport in the states. Picking up since the goal.
