What was that Nashville D man thinking when he threw that puck from behind the net over the crossbar to the crease? Bonehead move if I've ever seen one a la Steve Smith.

I'm pretty sure that was David Legwand the original Predator (team's first ever draft pick) chucking the puck into the crease from behind the net. Fantastically stupid play!

For those still lamenting Briere being gone, I thought this was an interesting perspective: http://www.nickmendo...drives-me-nuts/

And some interesting stats on Briere this postseason: He's scoring 3.38 goals/60 minutes, but is on the ice for 6.08 goals against/60. And this is with an offensive zone start of 77.4% (and he has an offensive zone finish of 54.7%, roughly meaning he has difficulty maintaining possession in the offensive zone). Lastly, Philly's save% when Briere is on the ice is .816, 3rd worst on the team.

Briere may be a clutch/opportunistic goal scorer, but he's not Jesus.

Edit: I should note, those stats are for even strength only.

I've got to say, that really is an interesting point of view, and I agree with it. Also, those are some crazy stats that I never realized.

whats with everyone saying he was trash in phoenix? he wasnt THAT bad honestly... had 32 goals for them the one year. and how could you blame him if he was bad in phoenix anyway? he had nobody else on that team. unfortunately sean burke couldnt be a beast in net and score goals...

Every team in the league passed him over when Phoenix put him on waivers. Safe to say no one expected him to become the player he is now.

then the rest of the league was idiots and WE werent.

We passed on him too...it wasn't until after we traded for him that anyone recognized he might be something. We're we idiots or just lucky?

I really don't care for any of the teams left in the East, I just hope whoever comes out on top in the West wins it all.

I have one hope, Philly/NJD don't win. Other than that I don't care.

Mike Green sucks in the playoffs. And this Caps-Rangers series has potential to go down as the most boring I've ever actually spent my time watching. So why watch, you ask? So I can tell my Ranger friend how terrible his team is to watch with first hand knowledge.

With all of the great first-round games, it's going to be very easy to be disappointed through the next couple of rounds. I don't think we'll see hockey as entertaining as it was last week until next year. Just a prediction, and certainly not a hope.

Let's just all thank our lucky stars that all that goonery, nay, criminal thugery is behind us.

... yes, that's sarcasm.

You're right, I wish more players like Alfredsson and Hossa would miss games from getting their heads crushed. Those were the good ole days.

That, too, was sarcasm.

LA just dominating St. Louis right now. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

I'm not sure if Brian Elliott finally remembered he was Brian Elliott, or if losing Pietrangelo killed the Blues D that much. But yea, never saw a 4-0 game coming.

And today is the anniversary of Steve Smith putting the puck in his own net behind Grant Fuhr. Kind of ironic but Legwand still has a chance to redeem himself .

4-1 now in St. Louis. I don't think the Blues are set up to come back from a 4-goal deficit, but at least I have a reason to keep watching!

Edit: Just as I write the above, goal Kings! 5-1!

Kings Coyotes sounds good to me. Hope I didn't just jinx them.

I think that's be fun. Easily the two more offensively talented teams in those matchups.

The Blues can't buy a PP goal, with the Kings practically giving it to them. Crazy.

There was a lot of crying going on last round, crying about more than just those two hits. If a little more boring hockey is what it takes to silence that, then I guess that's a good thing, right?

L.A. is continuing to make an impact and our my pick for cup winners. Quick, Brown, Kopitar, and Richards make that a team built to do 1 thing, win.
