Even then, he'd still be dead about 5 times over ;)

Am I the only one over the fact that he could still be here? It bothers me when he scores because he's a Flyer, not because the Sabres botched his extension.

That said, a small part of me is hoping either Philly or Jersey makes it to the Cup because I find their brand of hockey much more entertaining than the alternative presented by the Caps and Rags. And yes, I feel obscenely dirty that part of me feels that way.

I got over it recently, and it gets better as traces of the shattered remnants of that team are being removed. This team still has that 07-08 smell, but it is nowhere near as pungent as it was two years ago, and I feel confident in having a contender built here in the next few years. When that happens, we can all completely put that situation behind us. But maybe I'm being foolish, I dunno.

And these Flyers, with all of their heart, are proving fairly difficult to hate, especially without Richards, pronger, carter, and carcillo.

Until I see laviolette's unshaved upper lip behind the bench. Then I can hate them in peace again.

...just as you posted that, Kostitsyn scored for the Preds! But yeah, Phoenix is fired up in the first.

I laughed out loud as soon as it happened. Nashville makin me eat my words.

Now that time has worn away the pain, I actually can enjoy one of my first favorite players succeeding again.

And regardless of who scored, that was a really fun game to watch.

It really is bittersweet watching Briere. He flourished here after being a nobody in Phoenix. He absolutely killed as a Sabre. And, while I really don't want to go over the stupid reasons again, he plays for Filly now. A team I cannot root for no matter how much I like Briere. It's really tough.

Looks like the team with no owner and no fans is about to take a 2-0 series lead.

Too early for that (it's 3-2). But I did want to chip in and say that while we certainly have a fan base that Phoenix doesn't have and never will have, we did, at one point, have that same owner.

For all the crap he went through in his home life, I can't help but be okay with it.

Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

But I am glad that he's not a Sabre.

Nope, Phoenix up 5-3 now. Doan with a big goal. Looks bleak for Nashville.

So not only did I pick Nashville to win this series, but I predicted them to win quite comfortably. Either I grossly underestimated Phoenix, or I overestimated Nashville following their impressive showing against Detroit. Regardless, my games prediction is 12 minutes away from being impossible, and my winner prediction is 12 minutes away from being very unlikely. Really surprised by this series so far.

IMHO, the Preds are the more skilled team, but Phoenix is made for the playoffs with a roster full of big, physical player. Rinne hasn't been sharp. This game is disappointing since I have tickets to the games on Wednesday and Friday in Nashville. It'd suck to get swept!

It pains me somewhat that one of these non-hockey markets will have a team reach the final four, but I do hope it's Nashville. I like Rinne and Gaustad, and who the hell doesn't like Weber? (And yeah, I get it with Doan, too, but actually, I never really liked the guy. Seems like a Flyer.)

Game 1 in Phoenix was an announced sellout, but there were a ton of empty seats and the local press noted that a lot of the fans arrived late. The Coyotes are a really good team... it is a shame that they don't draw more support in Phoenix. The Coyotes averaged less than 13,000 fans for the year (http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/sort/homePct).

They're going to have a lot of fans in whatever city they move to, that's for sure.

I'm assuming this playoff run (if they keep going) also significantly reduces the chances that Doan goes elsewhere to finish up his career. Time to scratch another RW off my wish list :(

My money is on Quebec, which I'm totally OK with.

Quebec vs Winnipeg would become an instant rivalry. The old jets vs the new jets

What was that Nashville D man thinking when he threw that puck from behind the net over the crossbar to the crease? Bonehead move if I've ever seen one a la Steve Smith.

Not sure you read about Doan himself but he loves it in Phoenix. He has horses and stuff. There is no way Doan is, was or is going to go anywhere.
