Wow. Mugged isn't strong enough a word to describe Upshall's abuse of Bernier there.

I though he deserved it. It looked like he was trying to push the pile onto the goalie. At least, that's probably what Upshall thought.

I will admit that if it were Robyn Regher doing the punching I'd have a more positive view of that play. :P

And Jersey takes the lead on a Steve Bernier goal.

Filed under Stats that Dwight Drane Loves- Steve Bernier has more career NHL playoff goals than Derek Roy.

That's sweet!

Guys scoring playoff goals this year on teams still alive....

Bernier, Pyatt, Torres, Gaustad, Briere, Campbell, Paille, Zubrus

Seems like the whole Florida panthers team is a bunch of former 3rd line role players.

Pretty much. And quite a few from Chicago 2010. Without Theo, I think they're screwed. With Theo, it's 50/50 to me.

And out of those 8, maybe 4 of them weren't completly invisible during the regular season...............

So the Sabres weakness is third line depth. My eyes are open.

Not to further derail but I though that 3rd line depth was part of the problem.

Well 3rd line depth insomuch as we need more top line players to make our third line more skilled. Adding more 3rd liners doesn't solve the problem. If of course we're going with the Lindy Ruff 3 scoring lines approach.

Nice pass by Kovalchuk to set up the game winner.

You may want to hold off on any thinly-veiled Kovalchuk gloating until we see what happens in game 7...since ya know, he's never been on a team which made it out of the 1st round. Just sayin :P

The problem lies when your top players would be third line depth for other teams (not saying thats the Sabres case though)

What does help is having guys on your third line that could play on most teams top lines, thats a nice problem to have

I don't know

he was right about how the team needed the physical presence of Reghr

he was right about how Briere is not worth $5 mil for 5 years (the Arbys deal)

he has to be right that the Sabres made a mistake in not bringing in Kovy

I think you're both saying the same thing, in slightly different manners, but either way, yes, we need more top line talent level players to put the third and second line level players back at their respective spots.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand.......... further derailed

Thread derailment is like an avalanche...once it starts it's going to happen, the only question is how long it will last and how much permanent damage is done :P
