SwampD Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Not angry, just grossed out. We could have taken any of those teams in the first round if we had made it in to the dance (healthy). I'll give Washington some credit because I like Holtby's performance, but I'm not inspired by the performance of any of these Eastern teams. Their presence in the playoffs makes me gag. I just don't think that's true. I think Philly makes it all the way to the finals. Bos and Wash are both awful.
TheChimp Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 i laugh every time you use the word "bully." We are talking about grown men making millions of dollars, not acne faced grade school 11 year olds with self-confidence issues. The word "bully" does not apply. The physicality of the sport of hockey is what separates the NHL from most other sports. If you want to watch 10 guys go back and forth untouched than watch the NBA where the players react like they were hit by a truck at the slightest hint of possible contact. I'm glad I amused you there. And I am equally impressed with how you took what I wrote and did what you did to it.
darksabre Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 The West isn't turning out any better in my opinion. We have potentially Nashville, St. Louis, LA and Quebec moving on....all defense-first systems with limited offensive firepower and almost zero points for offensive style. Not all of the advancing teams run pure trap systems...but most of them certainly lack a certain offensive flair which I find entertaining. I actually like what is going on out west. San Jose always disappoints so I'm glad they're out early. St. Louis has some great talent in guys like Oshie and Berglund. And for some reason the idea of Brian Elliot winning something amuses me. Nashville gets the nod from me because I like Rinne and have become a fan of their fan base. Just seems like they're having a lot of fun. And Radulov is fun to watch. LA I like again because of goalies. Johnny Quick is one of my favorite players and his ability to carry LA is impressive. I also want to see Richards and Carter to succeed just to piss Philly off. Also I enjoy Vancouver not winning the cup before us. The only series I don't care about is Phoneix-Chicago. Chicago doesn't impress me and neither does Phoenix. Whatever.
TheChimp Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I was really hoping to see Fleury pulled. My team still has to face him at least four times next year, and even the slightest hit to his confidence means something. But I guess it isn't going to happen. They at least made a series of it. But that team has some serious psychological issues right now.
TrueBlueGED Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 They at least made a series of it. But that team has some serious psychological issues right now. Who would have thought a team headlined by Cup winners and stars such as Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Neal, and Letang would be as fragile (or more?) as the Sabres? Incredible.
TheChimp Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Who would have thought a team headlined by Cup winners and stars such as Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Neal, and Letang would be as fragile (or more?) as the Sabres? Incredible. Something tells me that Crosby was gone from the locker room long enough for the likes of Matt Cooke and Aaron Asham to have their way, and we all know Malkin is no help in that room, right? That's what I think, Crosby stopped being listened to. They looked leaderless, to me, and that's why I say that. I just thought of it, though, so I'm not married to the theory.
Marvelo Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Is it just me or does NBC seem to be electronically enhancing the puck, if only slightly? (same color) to me the puck seems to be bigger on the wide shots of the rink.

Buffalo Wings Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 If the Caps win this series I'm gonna kill something. That Philly series was a joke. Two teams fighting to see who could be the easiest second round out ever. Imagine this: a second round of Washington, Florida, Ottawa, and Philly. I'd rather see that than NYR, Bos, Philly, and either Florida/NJ. I don't know if I could handle the goon-laden Bruins do anything significant again. I don't have any feeling on the Rangers either way, but I wouldn't be upset if they lost to shut a few of their fans up.
Eleven Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Saw that Ference goal coming from a mile away. Washington's D should have, too.
Buffalo Wings Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Boston wins this series if they hang on today.
darksabre Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Saw that Ference goal coming from a mile away. Washington's D should have, too. Running into their own goaltender probably was a poor choice as well. Ovechkin makes it count.

Buffalo Wings Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 No matter who wins, this is what the playoffs is all about. I'm glad this isn't the Sabres...I can actually sit back and enjoy it.

They tend not to get credit as a good offensive team because their scoring is so spread out. BTW - Radulov is the real deal... He might be the best late-season addition to any of the playoff teams... To me the uber-boring team to watch in the west is St. Louis, thanks to Hitchcock.
TheChimp Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Also, TrueBlue, it was Winnipeg, not Quebec, that you meant, Quebec became the Avalanche, amember? ######. Damn Bruins.
millbank Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 i am so ashamed. Washington were doing just fine and then i came in and turned on the television and it was game over. Clearly this unfortunate result was all my fault. boo bruins, boo Philadelphia, going for three tonight.... http://www.nypost.com/rw/nypost/2012/04/21/covers/front042112.jpg i swear this is for me....

But I've never cared so much about goals per se...I care about fun-to-watch offense led by great individual talent. Nashville as a team isn't brutal to watch offensively (not even in the realm of that horrid St. Louis team), but they don't have a talent like Giroux or the Sedins who are just incredible to watch on an individual basis. To me, not all goals are created equal from an entertainment perspective. That being said, I do agree on Radulov. Also, TrueBlue, it was Winnipeg, not Quebec, that you meant, Quebec became the Avalanche, amember? ######. Damn Bruins. I know, but I was talking about where they will end up going as opposed to where they came from. Can't have two teams in Winnipeg....although, I'm pretty sure those fans would do anything possible to support a second team ;)

Thought you were going back in time instead of forward, there. :w00t:
Marvelo Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 well Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau might be available now.
qwksndmonster Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 well Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau might be available now. I want Clowe.
TrueBlueGED Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 well Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau might be available now. I want Clowe. Clowe please. I wouldn't touch Marleau with a 10 million light-year pole, talk about worthless when the going gets tough.
