OMG. Just sneezed on my iPhone. I think I just deleted 2011.

First it's thumbs, then it's sneezes. You're just trying to get rid of certain posts, aren't you...

Decent article from NHL.com yesterday. just a bunch quick points re: inconsistency in calls/suspensions, lack of home-ice advantage this year, number of PIMS compared to last year, etc.

This kind of hypocritical behavior happens in each of the League's 30 cities. You know, when it happens to me, it's the worst thing ever; but when my guy does it, it really isn't so bad. The behind-the-scene lobbying by owners and execs in defense of dangerous and reckless acts by members of their particular team has made it extremely difficult for any League disciplinarian to truly put down the hammer.

The league needs to be tougher on offenders, but also needs to crack down on the behind-the-scenes lobbying and basically tell the clubs that lobbying, tantrums, and threats will not affect the disciplinary process - and then stick to it and not be swayed by GMs who want their players to escape punishment.

The actions of Crosby and Neal the other night led to the 10-3 drubbing of the Flyers last night. When the "skill" guys are willing to get their hands dirty it lifts the entire team. Lindy should be taking notes.

You'd think if the actions of Crosby and Neal "lifted" the team, it would have happened in the game the actions took place...ya know, the one they lost 8-4.

I couldn't be more different.

I walked away thinking there was nothing to be learned from a football score that really translates to how the game should be played. Crazy series.

I wonder on this. Flyers got to be wondering just what they have in goal. Pittsburgh on the other hand while not thrilled with goalies performance, he has a track record of success. It is a crazy series. Almost a case of which goalie stinks least.

It's not just scoring either, they really spend a lot of time bottled up in their own end. They block a crap ton of shots and keep most everything to the outside, which is why their goal differential was so good. But they really struggle to maintain consistent pressure in the offensive zone...a lot of times they go in, get a shot or two, and it's back the other way.

This description sounds alarmingly familiar - perhaps this is why Sabres-Rangers always seems pretty even and Sabres regularly get thumped by the Sens.

The Sabres went 3-1-2 against Ottawa this year and 5-1 last year. So yeah, they always get thumped by Ottawa.

How dare you bring facts and information into this

You should look up our record against the Sens for the 5 seasons from 2005 until last season and then let me know if you'd like to change your mind.

They're alive in a big way. How is Lindy's team doing?

Facing elimination is "alive in a big way"?

That's as good as saying a dude in cardiac arrest is also "alive in a big way".

Not necessarily.

Haven't teams come back from 0-3 deficits in recent years? Pittsburgh is a team loaded with talent and now momentum. If they come all the way back, the efforts of Crosby and Neal will become legendary.

If they win the next two then they'll be "alive". Right now they're just mostly dead. And coming back from mostly dead usually takes a miracle.

I know it gets worse the farther back we go, but how comparable are those teams from 4 years ago to now? I'd think the past couple years would be a better indicator.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that IF they come back and win, then any heroics attributed to Crosby and Neal will be what ends up on the score sheet in the form of goals and assists, not penalty minutes and suspensions. My guess is you would be in the vast minority attributing the turnaround to the runs at skulls Neal took in game 3.

I don't know. Same basic core, same goalie, same coach. I think we have improved but to argue that Ottawa hasn't owned us is shortsighted. We've only just begun to trend upwards since the lockout.

I got the impression Sabre Dance was talking about recently, but if he was talking historically, then yes, you'd be correct.

In other news, the Caps look like a different team without Backstrom. Out-shot 10-1....although their one did go in.

Jonathan Toews' post-game comments after the Hossa hit are very telling. He was asked something along the lines of "do you think Torres will be suspended?" and Toews basically shrugged and said "who knows?" The players themselves have no idea how the league's discipline works now and they're scratching their heads same as we are.

Toews and his crew are one hypocritical group. I'm sorry but the Torres hit was a fraction away from perfection. To listen to the Hawks whine about Torres, you would think that they didn't have Duncan Keith on their team.

You know, the same guy who visciOusly elbowed Daniel Sedin cuz he was mad he got hit.

The Hawks sicken me from their coach down. Although I do like Hossa.

But to me, what Keith did was way worse than what Raffi did.

Maybe the individual hit was worse, I'd grant that. But he's still a Norris-winning defenseman and all-star....Raffie Torres has a history of repeated head shots and is nothing more than a role player. Keith's hit may have been worse, but considering Torres' history I don't think they belong in the same conversation of dirtball.

Man, how lucky is Washington that Holtby is so hot right now?

Insanely.

And every team defends their own. Look at Torres when he played for the canucks and hit Seabrooke. Or how Mario whines about his stars getting hit but employs Cooke. Its every team in the league that does it and they all point fingers while at the same time they throw dirty hits or cheap shots. No team is immune from the double standard.
