Wouldn't Miller get absolutely killed if he gave up the goal Lundqvist just gave up? In fact, we've seen him give up that goal. OT, partially screened, high gloveside, etc.

All goalies get beat.

I take the blame. I jinxed him when in the first period I posted that he was dominating, while Anderson was terrible.

And I still maintain the Rangers don't have the offense to win it all.

Ha--- you certainly weren't wrong. It was just a perfect shot by Turris that I don't think he saw until it was too late. If the Rangers can't beat Craig Anderson then I'm not sure they can score on any other current playoff goaltender outside of Pennsylvania.

It's not just scoring either, they really spend a lot of time bottled up in their own end. They block a crap ton of shots and keep most everything to the outside, which is why their goal differential was so good. But they really struggle to maintain consistent pressure in the offensive zone...a lot of times they go in, get a shot or two, and it's back the other way.

Somewhat related, I read before the playoffs that when teams meet in the postseason, the team that won the regular season series wins the playoff series 77% of the time. I know those historical stats don't always apply, but I think it speaks to the fact that some teams just match up well/poorly against another one. Rangers were 1-3 against the Sens in the regular season, and really struggled against their team speed. I still expect them to win the series, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I had high hopes for a potential 1st round matchup against the Rangers for that very reason (team speed), D injuries notwithstanding. This year's model of the Rangers doesn't look all that different from last year's model that was handled easily by the Caps, even with Brad Richards. They have the look of a team that'll get swept in the 2nd round.

I'm actually surprised by those stats regarding season series results as a predictor for the playoffs. I'd have expected something closer to a 50/50 split.

It was interesting how long the referees chose to think that out. They got help from the linesman too. When all was said and done it was even five on five for both sides Renaldo crosschecks penguins holds the stick yada yada.

I give it to the referees that they kept control of the game.

Wasn't that where he got the 2, 2, 10, and game? I could've sworn the Pens ended up w/ a 4 minute pp that they did absolutely nothing with.

Kings not getting the bounces tonight. But these playoffs have been full of surprises.

Just like the Penguins, a team hanging on for dear life. If the team gets swept four to nothing there's no effort whatsoever if they lose four to one it seems at least they tried.

No President's Trophy winner has ever been swept in round 1. I'm just going to guess Vancouver doesn't want the distinction of being the first. Oh, and that Daniel Sedin guy is back...that probably is a little helpful.

I think you're right I might be thinking of the Cooke, Vitale, Simmonds, Kubina, later that seem to be even'd up Overall I think the refs did a good job in this game. Maybe I watched the referees more than the players this game. ha ha

He's been attracting the Kings attention so that's good enough.

The actions of Crosby and Neal the other night led to the 10-3 drubbing of the Flyers last night. When the "skill" guys are willing to get their hands dirty it lifts the entire team. Lindy should be taking notes.

Yes yes, Lindy should definitely take notes on how to cling to a first round playoff series for dear life.

If the pens lose before game 7 we can officially say we did better (albeit last year).

Interesting random stat: Danny Briere has only lost one first round series dating back to 2005. The last one was against, who else, Pittsburgh a few years ago.
