They also said Miller stayed in the game with no apparent injury, but look at the fall out afterwards.

I still think that was all mental....as in, not physiological...as in, Miller hated his team and was all bunged up about it and that's why he played like he could care less all those games.

I think he was injured. Miller isn't the kind of guy to just throw away a season that early because he's butthurt.

Was there a video there though? This one is published and can't be taken back now.

Agreed.

I don't know :(

Ok, let's compare.

Shaw: Illegal hit to head. No previous history. No injury to Smith. 3 games

Hagelin: Illegal hit to head. No previous history. Injury to Alfredsson. 3 games.

Carkner: Illegal in every way (including punches to head). Previous history of the exact same incident. No injury to Boyle. 3 games.

More of that wonderful Shanny consistency.

Was that a typo or was that sarcasm that I missed?

Am I losing my mind, or was this game supposed to be played tonight? Did Neal and Asham get suspended? What year is this?

You're not losing your mind, you just don't pay attention to the NBA :P . 76ers play at home tonight, hence the arena is unavailable for hockey. Game is tomorrow.

Unless you read minds, you'll not convince me of that as fact. Sure looked that way to me. And hey, i like the guy. I don;t really blame him if that's what he did.

Panthers are 5 for 9 on the PP against a team that set the NHL record for best penalty kill in the regular season.

NO lead is safe, eh?

No offense, but the burden of proof in this case is kind of clearly on you, isn't it? Your assertion is one that actually requires mind reading. Confidence (in both himself and his teammates) admittedly had a lot to do with it but Miller's body language, reaction time and inability to read plays as he ordinarily would looked more like a guy with a foggy head than a guy that wasn't putting in an honest effort. He looked like he was lost not like he quit.

I saw no injury occur on the play and d4rk was the one who decided what "kind of guy" Miller is.

But hey, I'll admit as I always do, this is just my opinion.

Understood... but I do think your the first quoted post is guilty of heavy lifting mind reading and to what d4rk was responding.

Concussions are notoriously difficult to diagnose and are sometimes the result of innocent looking plays--- they certainly aren't diagnosed by watching game video, except for Dr. Shanahan. Having said that, after the hit, Miller's eyes were clearly dilated which is actually a sure fire sign of a concussed player. If there was no injury, why did he miss time, otherwise?

On top of that, Ryan Miller is a gamer.

Say what you want about his abilities against his salary, and I'll understand.

But that is a guy who has always "wanted the ball." 2006, 2007, completely suffering with a ###### team from 2008-09, 2010 (include the Olympics in that one), and 2011. And of course the effort in Feb/March 2012, after his favorite teammate had been traded, after we all had said the Sabres should be "sellers" at the deadline, and after everyone but Ruff and Miller himself had written the season off.

He wants to play and wants to win, more than anything. Of all the players on the team, why anyone would question Miller's desire and/or commitment, is beyond me. Again, whether his skill matches salary is a completely different question. His heart is all there, though.

Holy cow. How does Raffi Torres not get a penalty after leaving his feet to clobber Hossa?

For those not watching, Torres laid out Hossa. Hossa taken off the ice on a backboard and stretcher.

Wow. I'll have to see it tomorrow. Too busy with Florida-Joisey.

I'm surprised and somewhat impressed by Florida. I have no idea how they're doing it; I surmise that mirrors and maybe laser guidance systems may be involved.

Weave--now that Fla/NJ is over--what channel are you getting the Phoenix-Chicago game on? I can't find it. Or are you one of those lucky ones w/ CI?

3:50 left in the first. I'm sure they'll show the hit at intermission.

This game could get ugly.

So you're saying their laser zamboni is better than ours?

Wow, in 19 years the Panthers have come back from 3 goals down to win in regulation TWICE. First time was in November against Joisey, second time was tonight against Joisey. Theodore got pulled in favor of Clemmensen. Last time Broduer was pulled in the playoffs he was replaced by....... Clemmensen.

Torres has always played right on the edge. Left his feet to make the hit. I'm sure Shamahan will look into this one.

Miller's staunch defiance when repeatedly asked about Lucic (and defense of his teammates) and the swirling trade rumors showed he was a fighter... and of course what's more, one of his best stretches of hockey began when the Sabres were in dead last as he held an unwavering belief they could dig themselves out. His attitude during the stretch had as much to do with the team's upswing as did hs goaltending. A guy that quit wouldn't be capable of that kind of sea change in so short a period of time.

All I've got is a Larry King breath commercial with his hotwife (no space intentional) -- now there's an intermission report.

I'm saying that they're freaking panthers with lasers attached to their heads.

Completely agree.

Weave--just saw the hit. It's as ugly as Neal's on Sunday. The penance should be the same.
