SDS Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Wow. Helluva game. Helluva game. Best part was watching Komisarek completely blow it for his team. Watching him try to intimidate Foligno on the faceoff only to have Komi b!tch out and back off when the puck goes into his corner allowing Foligno to gain the puck and initiate the play that leads to the tying goal, and Komi tries to wipe away the embarrassment by pinning Foligno down and mashing his head into the ice while the play carries on right next to him. What a jackazz. What a loser. One item that was very noticeable to me throughout the game was which players didn't back down and led the team to this victory. IMO none of them were members of "the core". "The core" seemed content to let the inevitable happen. It was the new blood that kept their legs going and kept digging. Guys like Foligno, Ennis, Sulzer (fer cryin out loud), and Tropp really seemed to keep the faith even when things looked darkest. Yeah, Roy got the GWG but he was invisible until the end. The new guys seem to be taking charge before the old guys are even gone. Bodes well for the future for sure. It's a young man's game.
shrader Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yes they're flawed, but damn was that fun. How a seasoned vet like Komisarek can let a 20 year old kid get that deep inside his head on that tying goal is beyond me. I hope the Toronto media eats him alive tonight.
rickshaw Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Wow! It should never have come down to that but I'll take it. Komi, of you're in the NHL next year, I have a feeling you'll be taking quite a few rights to the head from Foligno.
Eleven Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 To me it just says our top defensemen mean a whole helluva lot to this team. Bigtime. I really want to see Myers back on Thursday; I guess we'll see. But winning this one without the top two was pretty big.
wjag Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 It's 9:55. I have to be up by 8. A full night's sleep means drifting off by midnight. I don't think it's happening. WOW, what a game. I hear yah,.. Too stoked to sleep... My son had to grab me as I was going freakin nuts on the tying and winning goals...
biodork Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Florida and Winnipeg going to OT after a couple of huge saves on each side
... Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 To me it just says our top defensemen mean a whole helluva lot to this team. Well, either Toronto is that good, or the top two D men mean a little too much to the Sabres. I don't think Toronto is that good, so missing their top two D men and having to gut out a win against a bad team is an issue. Like I said before, I don't buy into the "injury excuse" for the Sabres' season, but I do buy into the "injury problem".
Claude_Verret Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Huge save by peg goaltender on breakaway with 30 seconds left. OT we go

Dunno who you consider to be the old "core," but Vanek and Pommer were digging in there the whole time. And of course, the guy with the GWG was Derek Roy. I'm not his biggest fan, either, but tonight might not be the time to pick on him.
SDS Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Were the 'Comeback Game" and the "Drury Rangers series Goal" against teams that had already quit on the season? To compare tonights against those games is silly. To miss the point is worse. It isn't over until it is over.
rickshaw Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 never...give...up...hope I was gonna give you a hard time when you posted that the first time. Too funny. What a stupid game. Miller with the win and a 5 goal game. Hilarious!
PromoTheRobot Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Team Storm Cloud puts away the champagne for another night. PTR

... Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I've been watching hockey since the late '70s and I can honestly say that I've never seen them let it go like that for so long without blowing the whistle. I guess the ref clearly knew where the puck was even though most of the players didn't. Amazing. Maybe the league has decided the underdog Sabres makes a better post-season storyline.
novascotiaguy Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Wow my emotions are all over the place what a game.
wonderbread Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Huge save by peg goaltender on breakaway with 30 seconds left. OT we go That tying goal just went in
K-9 Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Were the 'Comeback Game" and the "Drury Rangers series Goal" against teams that had already quit on the season? To compare tonights against those games is silly. He's not comparing the games. It's the idea that we fans need to really appreciate that nothing is over until it's over. All I know is I have another game to cheer them on at the moment. I'll gladly take it. I'm not sure my heart can but I've seen too many games over too many years across too many sports to know that far stranger things have happened than the Sabres making the playoffs this season. GO SABRES!!!
CallawaySabres Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 This is what I would imagine dying in your sleep would be like. It's almost like a peaceful fade into the sunset.....no anger, no nothing, just acceptance Then my daughter sees Sabretooth in net during intermission and says "is he going to play"? Might as well right? Too funny... Now I know what it must be like to see the white light and then get pulled back down for a second chance!
SDS Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Well, either Toronto is that good, or the top two D men mean a little too much to the Sabres. Like I said before, I don't buy into the "injury excuse" for the Sabres' season, but I do buy into the "injury problem". A team doesn't have to be that good. One line does. Take a look at the stat line in the 1st period. Take a look at Sulzer's play on many of those goals. Hard to say that happens when you Myers is in there.
Weave Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yes they're flawed, but damn was that fun. How a seasoned vet like Komisarek can let a 20 year old kid get that deep inside his head on that tying goal is beyond me. I hope the Toronto media eats him alive tonight. Komisarek may be a seasoned vet but he often turns into a train wreck on the ice. He and Toronto deserve each other.
Randall Flagg Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Team Storm Cloud puts away the champagne for another night. PTR Yeah, they always start the arguments with the snide comments, don't they.
Knightrider Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I turned the game off, just checking in now. Did I just screw up big time? ROFL Whoever said it was a rollercoaster was spot on... I can't believe they pulled that off without Myers or Erhoff...
deluca67 Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 To miss the point is worse. It isn't over until it is over. The point is, you shouldn't need a "comeback" against the Leafs at this point of the season.
Weave Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Dunno who you consider to be the old "core," but Vanek and Pommer were digging in there the whole time. And of course, the guy with the GWG was Derek Roy. I'm not his biggest fan, either, but tonight might not be the time to pick on him. I cheered Roy's goal. But the game is now over. I feel no compulsion to lay off him any longer. :P
