Randall Flagg Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 If we make the playoffs, I will definitely think we deserve it after the run, but if we miss, we definitely deserve it for the middle part of the season. Strange feeling.
SwampD Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 If you are going to bag on the officials, you have to include the Foligno slew-foot early in the game. They made made up for that one with the tripping call they gave him. That was not a penalty.
rickshaw Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 The team goes 2-10 in those 12 road losses and we're fine. Unreal.
Guest Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 There were many other nights when this team just didn't show up to play. They were just as important as the 12 game road losing streak. Well like Jauron said, "It's hard to win in this league". Just like it's hard to lose 12 straight road games. Tonight they let a rebound machine goalie off the hook because they couldn't finish so many of their chances.
87168 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Don't think Miller played decent - cannot afford a softie at this time of the year.... But softies will happen. That's the nature of the game. No netminder is exempt from a softie. Miller played decent, not great, not exceptional but decent. If he hadn't, given the break down in defense during the 1st and 2nd, the score would have been great than what it was.
TrueBlueGED Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 I still say we make it and give the Rangers a run....but a point tonight would have made such a psychological difference for most fans (I think).
deluca67 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 This game reminded me a lot of the Philly series, the Sabres were facing a goalie that was just giving them goals and they couldn't take full advantage. How do you only put 28 shots on Johnson? He was playing like he had money on the Sabres in a playoff pool. Well like Jauron said, "It's hard to win in this league". JJFIVEOH Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 I really don't care what Cindy has to say......................

And despite that, the Sabres still had a half dozen chances to at least get to OT.
nobody Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Do they give the golden helmet to the worst player when we lose? Who should it go to? They bring out the brown helmet.
deluca67 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 I still say we make it and give the Rangers a run....but a point tonight would have made such a psychological difference for most fans (I think). It's all part of the ride for fans. These last four games are going to be great no matter the end result. What the end result means can be discussed int he off-season. Right now is why many of us became fans in the first place.
nobody Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 I'm guessing the Leafs are just licking their lips to knock the Sabres out.
Randall Flagg Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 I'm guessing the Leafs are just licking their lips to knock the Sabres out. Nah, they're ready for some jays baseball.
deluca67 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 I'm guessing the Leafs are just licking their lips to knock the Sabres out. I doubt the Leafs even know they have a game scheduled for tomorrow. I like Brian Burke, when it's not working it's just not working. They need to clean house. As much as I like Burke and he has done some good things in Toronto, I have to say it's time for him to move on.
TrueBlueGED Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 I'm guessing the Leafs are just licking their lips to knock the Sabres out. If we lose to the Leafs I think I'll go from "we can give the Rangers a run" to "BLOW IT UP WE'RE TERRIBLE!" My head will be spinning if we lose....they have more blatantly quit than I've seen a professional sports team do in awhile. We need to come out and step all over them tomorrow.
Guest Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Derek Roy was battling migraines during the third period. He must be getting his period. But seriously, if he is battling migraines, why the hell is he out on the ice? He was battling more than migraines.
biodork Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 This is the first game in I don't know how long that the Ennis line (and the Hodgson line) was really a non-factor. Not sure how much of that was Ennis and Hodgson getting pushed around vs bad plays, but hopefully just a sign of a good opponent and/or off night by the Sabres. The letdown loss was bound to happen but I'd have felt better if they'd at least gotten a point out of it (as TrueBlue said).
deluca67 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 Do they give the golden helmet to the worst player when we lose? Who should it go to? The Sabres should have skated to Johnson and tapped his pads after the game, he was their best player and kept the game close.

It would also be easier to accept a letdown loss to a team that didn't just play last night and had a piece of swiss cheese in goal.
zow2 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 The scoreboards in the NHL certainly favored Washington tonight. They could still finish 3rd!

I like Ennis and Hodgson as much as anybody especially for next year and beyond.....but lining them up against Crosby and Malkin is about as much of a mismatch as you're going to get. Hodgson was 14/23 on faceoffs though, that's gotta count for something...right?
nobody Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Derek Roy was battling migraines during the third period. He must be getting his period. But seriously, if he is battling migraines, why the hell is he out on the ice? He was battling more than migraines. Because he is Lindy's son. And if I heard correctly - sounded like Lindy was calling out Vanek for not scoring a second goal tonight? Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Lindy says Weber out for tomorrow's game in Toronto. Brayden McNabb, have your cell phone turned on.
deluca67 Posted March 31, 2012 Author Report Posted March 31, 2012 The scoreboards in the NHL certainly favored Washington tonight. They could still finish 3rd! How do the Sabres favor against the Panthers in a tie breaker? The Caps play the Panthers second to last game of the season. It might be better for the Sabres if Caps win the division.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Another game where the refs were out to screw Lindy, the face (and open mouth) of the Sabres. It worked.

It might be better for the Sabres if Caps win the division. They're even in ROW, but assuming the Sabres catch them in points they'd almost have to win on the tiebreaker at that point. So...favorably!
