Marvelo Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I hope not. I could see the lines this way: Stafford-Ennis-Foligno Vanek-Hodgson-Tropp Pominville-Roy-Leino Boyes-Gerbe-Kaleta
Punch Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I'm not sure how the emergency recall rules work exactly, but that's what Foligno is--- is it possible that the Sabres won't have a choice when Gerbe and Kaleta are both ready? Having said that, unless Foligno hits the wall in a major way, Lindy can't possibly justify taking him out. It's a good problem to have and typically one the Sabres don't have, particularly at this time of year.
I am Defecting Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Gerbe at center? It's the small shifty center formula, four lines deep, and I like it!
DR HOLLIDAY Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I hope Gerbe knocks Boyes out of the lineup.
deluca67 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I hope Gerbe knocks Boyes out of the lineup. Why is Boyes in the lineup to begin with? It is a poor use of a roster spot to have him sitting on the bench in case of a shootout.
fan2456 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Hope not. Love his heart but he is this organizations next Jody Gage,
LTS Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Why is Boyes in the lineup to begin with? It is a poor use of a roster spot to have him sitting on the bench in case of a shootout. Agree, and frankly I think Gerbe is just as effective in the shootout. His wrist shot is pretty tough to stop.

There is no reason to have Boyes in the lineup in the playoffs. Hopefully once the regular season ends so does Boyes' career as a Sabre. I wish we had that second round pick back.

I am Defecting Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 It's not impossible that Boyes could go on a scoring streak. Do you believe in miracles?
deluca67 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Agreed, Cody M brings more to the lineup then Boyes. Especially in the playoffs. I would rather have McCormick banging bodies than Boyes doing whatever it is he does. It's not impossible that Boyes could go on a scoring streak. Do you believe in miracles? Which is why i always answer my door when the doorbell rings, it's not impossible that Carmen Electra will be standing there telling me she cant' live without me. Actually I have a better chance than Boyes does.
Claude_Verret Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Wrong thread. Don't know how that happened. Must be an iPad thing.
Weave Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 As much as I like the effort Gerbe brings, I hope that the arrival of Foligno means that Gerbe is forced out.
drnkirishone Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 it's not impossible that Carmen Electra will be standing there telling me she cant' live without me. she is not that hot anymore imho
JJFIVEOH Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I thought Foligno was up for Ellis. I would think Turnbull would be sent back down when Gerbe gets better. How anybody could think Gerbe shouldn't be in the lineup is nuts.

JJFIVEOH Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 What has he done for us other than work hard? How effective has he really been? Hard work, a lot of heart, he plays physical, forces penalties, damn good defensive winger, and he can score. Do you expect him to be a 20 goal scorer with the linemates he's had most of the year? He certainly deserves a spot over Boyes and McCormick (unless he's needed for a game that might get physical). Tropp? Turnbull? Sorry, I choose Gerbe.

Tropp? Turnbull? Sorry, I choose Gerbe. Meh. He doesn't play physical (he tries but at his size it's not effective). He doesn't force penalties, I'd like to see your argument that he does. He's no better on defense than several other wingers we've got. And his points don't really support your notion that he can score. And yes, if he can't be an energy guy, or a better shutdown guy than several other LW's, than he needs to be a 20 goal scorer to be worth the roster spot. Let's keep it to LW's since that is the position he plays. He's competing against Vanek, Leino, Foligno and McCormick. I'l admit that McC is limited, but in his role McC is effective. I've yet to figure out what role Gerbe can be effective at (well, more effective than another Sabre right now). Right now Leino is doing a better job in the checking line role than Gerbe did. He's a great kid with a great story. But there is no room for him on a roster with deep playoff run aspirations.

If you want to get technical then leave Leino out of the equation because he wasn't playing left wing when Gerbe got hurt. Gaustad, Gerbe and Kaleta was the #1 shut down line until Gaustad got traded then Leino took over. They remained the #1 shut down line until Gerbe and Kaleta got hurt. If it wasn't for the GGK line in the several games leading up to the trade deadline, and the GLK line after the deadline, we wouldn' t be talking playoffs right now. Go back over the schedule and let me know how the #1 line of Boston, Pitts, SJ, Anahein, Vancouver did against BFLO with the Gerbe line defending them.
fan2456 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 What has he done for us other than work hard? How effective has he really been? Not at all! And at his size, if he isn't putting 50pts. on the board, he's useless. He can't play for 90% of the teams in this league and will be rolled over in the d zone during the playoffs when they will call no penalties. That's if we make it.
