waldo Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Lindy will break up the Ennis line tonight... too productive... Ennis back to wing...Kaleta centers
Wyldnwoody44 Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Lol, ruff didn't Like the way miller made saves, so he's starting ennis in net. Sounds ridiculous.....but we all know it's not that far fetched ;)
rickshaw Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 The question is, which Ryan Miller shows up tonight if he plays? The one who was lights out in Cali, or the recent one? Please be the first option. If we can't fill the net against Tampa, we've got problems. Cody Hodgson will score tonight!!!

Miller's play has been fine lately. If the offense would just score, we'd be even better...
Tom Backyard Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 True, it's either old man Dwayne Roloson or a rookie with little to no experience named Takarski (?). Hopefully it will be Roloson. He is 0-7-1 against Buffalo, with a 4.05 GAA and a .844 save percentage. I can't remember if we played against him last season, but I vivdly remember a walloping the Sabres laid on him when he was in Edmonton two years ago.
apuszczalowski Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012    Its not hard to understand, pucks went into the net, therfore the goaltender is to blame and played bad. His only job is to block shots from getting by him. Obviously since a couple went in, he is not doing his job well Hopefully it will be Roloson. I don't like it when they play against unknown or rookie type goaltenders, it just seems like they never play well when the other team is playing some newer unknown goalie

Ryan Miller last 5 games 3-0-2 with .910 sv% 2.4 GAA we cant win if we dont score more than 2 goals.....ie:everyone not named Ennis

We did, in Buffalo late in the season, in the game right before we clinched against Philly. Vanek had a hat trick in one of the better games he's ever played.
kishoph Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Ryan Miller last 5 games 3-0-2 with .910 sv% 2.4 GAA we cant win if we dont score more than 2 goals.....ie:everyone not named Ennis Is he wearing down some ? The last two games he's given up 6 goals (not counting SO goals), 1 in the last seconds of each game. The last 4 games have gone into overtime and it's been a long season, important as this game is, I think Miller could use a rest, unless he gets one Wednesday against the Habs. Knowing Lindy though, he'll ride Miller till he drops.
LastPommerFan Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I have seen nothing in Ryan's game that indicates he is fatigued. The goals (other than the 2 mad scramble goals vs MON and COL) have mostly been the type of screened high shot goals that are the normal method for scoring on a skilled butterfly netminder. When he's fatigued, you typically see his cross crease movement slower, and his positioning slightly off, which would have really showed in last night's 7 round shoot out, in which he was strong.

I think if the defense does what they are supposed to, neither of those goals go in. I honestly feel that we need Myers back! I could see him getting rest against MTL or MIN this week. Absolutely correct
nfreeman Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 This would be an opportune time for Vanek to remove head from rectum. Overall, this is another key test for the Sabres. Will we see fragile little children, or a determined and intense team that doesn't hide under the bed and hope someone else steps up at crunch time? I wish I felt more confident.

JJFIVEOH Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Goaltenders shouldn't get fatigued. They don't go through the rigors everybody else does and they play every single game. If they played every single day I can see the mental side of it taking its toll, but they don't play every day. All it is is an excuse for when they have a bad string of games. If a goalie plays 15-20 straight games they're going to have some bad games no matter how fresh they are. And as soon as they do that's when the tired excuse pops up. Most goalies love getting as much action as possible, they usually play better the more they're involved. There is no reason any goalie should be tired.

I'd bet if you had to stand hunched over and essentially do a series of squats for a full 60+ minutes, combined with getting bumped / run into and having to mentally focus on stopping a small rubber saucer, you'd probably be tired. I am wondering how much goal tending you have done? Seriously!

Do yourself a favor, go stand against a wall and squat for 20 minutes...then when youre done, dive to the ground and stand back up repeatedly, then when your done with that run a mile....coming from someone who has played the position, yes goalies get tired.
JJFIVEOH Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I've done quite a bit of goaltending thank you. Not to mention being a catcher when I played baseball. And what a D-man or forward goes through every game is easier?

And what a D-man or forward goes through every game is easier? Playing pick up isn't the same as the pressure cooker of professional goaltending - it's more a mental game than physical at that level - sure, there are a few guys who can regularly play 70+ games a year at a high level, but they are the exception.
LGR4GM Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 after wading through the usual Hodgson sucks posts, which btw are complete BS, I think the sabres win this thing tonight because of good hard work and burying chances. Hodgson gets a goal tonight and the Sabres play well.

LGR4GM Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Of course they tire, but it was in comparison to players that play every game so the comparison is pretty relevant. ;) no because the goalie is the only player who plays 60minutes a game.
Guest Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Of course they tire, but it was in comparison to players that play every game so the comparison is pretty relevant. ;) There is a reason teams have backup goalies, because goalies wear down MORE than any other player on the team. Until a goalie plays 82 games your statement holds no merit. The best d-men in the league play less than 30 mins a game. Big difference. As for tonight, Tampa Bay has been struggling and we all know how struggling teams play against Buffalo, or I should say how Buffalo lets struggling teams off the hook and make them look great.
