SabreFX Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 As evidenced by this picture, Gomez sustained a greater head injury than we initially thought: Christinne Muschi , REUTERS Poor guy. He had so much difficulty with that prior to the hit. :P

Grinder Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Whut? Not comprehending at all. Can someone show me the other first time offenders who got three games? How is this different than Richards on Connolly last year? It's different because the owner of the Flyers is the same guy who pays the NHL all that money to broadcast it's games. Fixed league is fixed. Anyone that can't see that just doesn't want to.
Campy Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 ratings my friend... You mean TV ratings? http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2011/02/20110207/Media/NHL-ratings.aspx
MattPie Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 You mean TV ratings? http://www.sportsbus...HL-ratings.aspx I don't know if you scrolled down, but you'll notice that if you skip down to the raw numbers Boston is ahead of Buffalo. Percentage is nice, but advertisers pay for eyeballs.

Captain Caveman Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 All this talk about Myers being a first time offender - wasn't he called to the commissioner's office once before after the Zubrus hit and basically given a warning?

drnkirishone Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 only thing that is suppose to factor in is fines and suspensions
Weave Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 All this talk about Myers being a first time offender - wasn't he called to the commissioner's office once before after the Zubrus hit and basically given a warning? Yes.
darksabre Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Yes. Wonder how many more warnings Lucic gets? He must be on the wholesale plan.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Wonder how many more warnings Lucic gets? He must be on the wholesale plan. "Milan - we really, REALLY mean it this time. I'm serious. If I have to talk to you about this again, there's gonna be big trouble, mister."
RazielSabre Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 You guys read this: http://www.tsn.ca/bl...aser/?id=390346 ? Interesting, Frasers articles are quite interesting. Shanny is better than Bettman but his still making FAR too many mistakes like this. It really cannot be this difficult.
shrader Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 "Milan - we really, REALLY mean it this time. I'm serious. If I have to talk to you about this again, there's gonna be big trouble, mister." But I didn't mean it!
Bmwolf21 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 But I didn't mean it! Gary: "Brendan, he said he didn't mean it. Let's give him a warning that he's gonna be in big trouble next time but then let's give him a hug and take him out for ice cream so he doesn't feel too bad." Shanny: "Way ahead of you, Gary. Milan - who wants ice cream?!?"
shrader Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 You guys read this: http://www.tsn.ca/bl...aser/?id=390346 ? Interesting, Frasers articles are quite interesting. Shanny is better than Bettman but his still making FAR too many mistakes like this. It really cannot be this difficult. The only problem I have with Fraser's take is where he said Gomez no longer had the puck. Kerry's watching far too many slowed down replays. Gomez played the puck and then was hit. The hit itself was well within the window of possession. The boarding vs. hitting from behind stuff is dead on though. I've never understood why they refuse to call these what they really are, hits from behind. These refs do not want to influence the game by making a call that would remove a player from the game. They're too stupid to realize that by doing that, they are in fact influencing the game.

Shanny is better than Bettman but his still making FAR too many mistakes like this. It really cannot be this difficult. Obvious that Kerry Fraser should be discipline czar or even commissioner. He actually knows what he's doing and isn't a Bettman experiment. "Tyler Myers' hit on Scott Gomez fell under the check from behind rule and Myers deserved a major and game misconduct for his actions. This penalty would have rendered Myers unavailable to score the winning goal at 2:01 of OT assuming that Montreal hadn't ended the game in regulation on the five-minute power play. The three-game suspension was appropriate. David, the onus was on Myers to pull up and not make the hit Scott Gomezand for the Malkin to minimize contact on his vulnerable opponent,Johnny Boychuk."
korab rules Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Wonder how many more warnings Lucic gets? He must be on the wholesale plan. Double secret probation Gary: "Brendan, he said he didn't mean it. Let's give him a warning that he's gonna be in big trouble next time but then let's give him a hug and take him out for ice cream so he doesn't feel too bad." Shanny: "Way ahead of you, Gary. darksabre Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Double secret probation How about a fresca? Hmmm? Hmmm? Hmmm? He's gotta be on what, quadruple super secret probation at this point?
DR HOLLIDAY Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Obvious that Kerry Fraser should be discipline czar or even commissioner. He actually knows what he's doing and isn't a Bettman experiment. I doubt that, if he was getting paid by the NHL again, Fraser would go right back to being the POS company man that he was when he was a ref.
Taro T Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I doubt that, if he was getting paid by the NHL again, Fraser would go right back to being the POS company man that he was when he was a ref. When Fraser 1st came into the league, he was extremely good. Unfortunately, he eventually started reading his press clippings. I wouldn't say he was ever a company man; he had FAAAAR too big of an ego for that.

No doubt the NHL is pure 100% bush league at it's finest, but seriously - If that were the case, don't you think the Flyers would have more championships?
LastPommerFan Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Obvious that Kerry Fraser should be discipline czar or even commissioner. He actually knows what he's doing and isn't a Bettman experiment. You want to create a league that would protect league interests and not penalize star players, make Kerry the commish. See 1993 campbell conference finals, game six, for reference.

He was on the wrong side of two of the biggest calls in history and I hate him and his hair.

Mostly because, aside from Bernie Parent and Pelle Lindbergh, the Flyers have had a succession of mediocre goaltenders OR decent goaltenders that play mediocre in the playoffs. Witness the Sabres nearly stealing the series with the Flyers last year because their goaltenders bore a remarkable resemblance to Swiss cheese.
