Tyler Ennis should never play wing again. Great win and a great goal game by Tyler Ennis and Tyler Myers.

Agreed, that was a very good game played by TPE (akaThe Phanton Ennis ). Some Observations from tonights game.

TPE, Best player on the ice for Buffalo tonight.

I have been watching for 4 games now and I really like the play of Sulzer and his pairing and play w/Erhoff. They play solid together and I think it works well with the other two pairings as well (Weber/Regher, Tyler/Leopold).

Erhoff has been playing some really good consistent hockey at both ends of teh ice and has been playing some of his best hockey of the season when they need him most. I feel bad for Sekera being Ill but I have not missed his play over this stretch.

Miller is back finally playing his best hockey of the season to little too late maybe but still nice to see them playing like it matters.

Stafford still floating too much out there and just not making good decisions on the ice and is too loose with the puck for my nerves. But many have seen and said the same.

Overall a solid effort and the better team did win tonight. I want to see them make this hockey interesting for as long as they can because it's fun and I am starting to see some players step up that I defintely like for this teams future.

Wow, that was some ending to the game - I couldn't post - I was doing my obligatory 30 minutes on the Nordic Track. :)

First, Roy flopping around like a beached fish on the ice in front of Miller for 10 seconds or more at the end of regulation???? C'mon, man!!!!! That was horrible even by Roy's standards. He actually interfered with Miller. If Roy had been a Hab, he'd have drawn a damn penalty.

Then Roy dug himself out of the dog house with that sweet pass back to Myers that set up the winning goal. Jeebus!!

Well, it was entertaining, I gotta say that! Roy would have had a solid game if it wasn't for that ugliness at the end of regulation.

Its not often I defend Roy, well never but he did block a shot in that clusterfukc at the end of regulation that was labelled for the net so his heart was in the right place even if his brain wasn't. It takes balls of steal to block those shots.

The Sabres won because I'm wearing my Yellow Sabres Slug Shirt.... They're like 6-0 when i've worn it while watching this year.... It's almost like I'm cursing a jinx... Is that even possible?

You're not allowed to wear other shirts on game nights for the rest of the season. Sorry.

Anyone else feel as if Ennis should be the1st line center? He's playing w/ more confidence and level of play than Coho and Roy. Aside from the ot setup, Roy looked looked terrible.

Ennis was drafted to be a center, and hopefully a creative and slick one. IMO, he is the replacement for Briere that Roy never was. And I think he's got all of that. It is up to DR to get the right people in, and it is up to LR to put Ennis with the right people. So far, so good, in a second (or is it really a first?) season. But a first-liner? Depends on the second and third lines, and the chemistry. Hodgson could easily be 1, Ennis 2, or vice versa, after Hodgson gets to practice with the team for more than an hour. Or (hopefully) someone else comes in as 1, leaving these two bugs as 2 and 3. How freaking awesome would that be?

I am loving what I see for '12-'13.

Don't you take off that :censored: jersey!

Good win tonight, as others have said, would have been a shame to not get the two points after a good effort. Please start losing Washington.

Best game that i have been to all year from start to finish

Roy had his best night in 2 years - he was EVERYWHERE and taking the puck from EVERYBODY

Ennis is a natural Center...period

Tropp and Foligno had great games as well

Leino is getting better

Now if Buffalo could just do that against a team bigger than Montreal

I almost passed out when Myers grabbed his wrist in pain - I thought he was done for a while

You must have watched a replay from last year because no way in Hell can you say Roy looked terrible (and I hate him). If he put that effort into every game, this team would have 10 more points easily.....

You didn't mention the, "You couldn't hear a pindrop in the crowd" cliche.

Yep.

Just got back from the game. Damn if they didn't do it again

They will and I won't be there, again, dammit!

The lines were shuffled every period so you can't really judge who was the top center by anything other than ice time I guess? Roy with 19:41 and Ennis with 16:12. I'm okay with that tonight.

With that game winning goal Myers is tied for fifth all-time game-winning Sabres dman. Tied with Campbell and Zhitnik.

That didn't take long, T1 likes to be the closer in OT

I knew as soon as we got rid of that cancer Kassian we were going to turn the corner.

Seriously, I still think Zack will be a player, but Foligno looked more like the concept of Kassian tonight than Zack ever did in his stint here. Take the shortest route to the net or the puck and arrive in ill humour.

Does anyone else see some Bobby Nystrom in his game?

PS: Ehrhoff was special tonight.

Thanks for saving me the time.... and I still hate him, too.

The Hoff has been our best defence man for over a month, and even looks better playing beside his fellow German

Good call on Foligno. He looks like he could be a regular next year -- and maybe a valuable piece.

I liked Ehrhoff's game too. He's a good, solid player. And his countryman! 24 minutes of ice time to 11 for Hodgson? Maybe Hodgson was the throw-in.

The Islanders can do us a solid tomorrow night.

Go Sabres.

I like what Foligno is doing in front of the net and the fact he wants to lay the body. He has been horrible in his own zone and clearing the puck though. 3 times tonight he whiffed, open along the boards and Montreal kept it in for a pressure.

I wonder if Lindy threw him out there for that last goal as a treat for his buddy Mike? I would also think the organisation is under some pressure for sending out Kassian and leaving a void, and at the same time Hodgson is on the 4th line now with 0 points.

I like Foligno's gumption. He is a long way from being where he needs to be in his overall game though at this level. Now I sound like Lindy.

For those keeping track, Sabres still on a .700 points percentage pace since Jan. 24. 14-5-3. 31 of 44 possible points.

PTR

Too bad they slept through November and December, then.

No seriously, I don't mean to rain on anyones parade, and credit should be given where credit is due, it's just that I've seen this team stink early, only to finish really strong, yet miss the playoffs, way too many times to enjoy this late push.

Always hoping though, but still with that very distinct "crap, not again" feeling.

Ennis hasn't surprised me at all, people forget that he was a 20 goal scorer last season (49 points), he had a terrible start this season, but also was not getting a lot of ice time (-15 min.) that a "top 6 forward" should get, then the injury held him back for a long time. To me he's the most electrifying player the Sabres have, his vision getting better all the time, as is his willingness to finish. I like seeing him score, but I would of loved if that pass to Foligno would of connected. With all the hoopla coming with Hodgson, I think people didn't realize that what they want Hodgson to be, is here in Ennis already, not a dig at Hodgson, I hope he turns out great, but I think that Ennis will be that special player that every team wants and needs. Also I think Ennis is just a couple of months older than Hodgson, so they both have a lot of experience to be gained.

I don't know if this belongs in the NHL thread or whatever, but officiating is so pathetic. I love how they're talking at the GM meetings about slowing the game down by putting the red line back in.....slowing it down? Do they want it more boring than pre-lockout hockey? We're in a second dead puck era, period. I think there could be about 30 interference penalties every single game if the refs actually called them. Players haven't adjusted to the new rules, coaches haven't put new systems in place....the refs just don't enforce the rules. If the refs enforced things, everything else would fall into place. The clutching/grabbing is allowed to a shameful degree and if it continues to get worse I don't think the NHL will be able to maintain the growth the game has seen since the lockout.

Amen.

They had the game going in the right direction after the lockout and blew it. One step forward two steps back. Bettman is too busy trying to grow hockey in markets where it doesn't work, to see that the games are getting worse not better.

People need to stop with this comparison. Foligno may have more grit and determination, but the skating and offensive skills between the two aren't within a mile of each other.

That being said, I see Foligno as a 3rd line player, and hope that he can improve to the point where he is a fringe scoring line winger.
