Zamboni Driver Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 This may be True, but they are still Canadiens! and this is coming from a person with duel citzenship. They still made Canada look bad. I agree. Actually the distinction shouldn't be made between Vancouver vs suburbs, but between people actually attending the game (Canucks fans) vs random drunken hooligans who only came to riot. The TV news reported that "Canucks fans were rioting" when in fact it was just a bunch of drunken idiots with little connection to the Canucks And trying not to get into a political discussion here, but the real problem is that out here on the "Left Coast" we have a bunch of wingnut politicos that can't or won't let the police & courts put people behind bars for crap like this. When the riots happened in the UK there were arrests and convictions within weeks, and most rioters convicted saw the inside of a jail. There was even the case of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's son getting 16 months for rioting. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2015110/Pink-Floyds-David-Gilmours-son-Charlie-jailed-16-months-LSD-rampage.html Cities in the US don't put up with this s**t, they could call in the National Guard and drag people off to jail.. But most of the young punks rioting in Vancouver KNOW that even if caught and convicted they'll get a slap on the wrist and a suspended sentence or such. The real problem here was that our mayor is an idiot, he invited 10's of thousands of people to come downtown, and didn't bother to plan for extra police from the province or other municipalities
TheChimp Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Everybody needs to relax. The profiteers and financiers have everything almost where they need it, and we'll all be comfortably back to war soon enough. Maybe, if we play our cards right, this time Canada and the US can line up on opposite sides and we can have some REAL fun. WOLVERINES!!!!

Jsixspd Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Well, that situation was very similar to the massive riot that occurred in Buffalo when the Sabres lost in the Stanley Cup finals. Oh wait, there wasn't a riot, was there? This seems like the lamest excuse in the world - the rioters weren't from Vancouver?   Given the fact the riot was in DOWNTOWN Vancouver, the majority of the rioters must have been from the greater Vancouver area. They must be drinking too many Molsons up there if they're buying into this line of reasoning/excuse making. I half-expected them to riot again when they lost to the Sabres last week.
SwampD Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Don't you want your fans to riot after a loss in the SCFs? I mean, really, a couple of windows get smashed, some designer clothes get stolen, but who cares about that. It just shows that the fans care, so they let off a little steam, and it's over with. What's the big deal? It's not like Philly where that douchbag that beat that NYC cop after the Classic. A little rioting is good every now and then as long as nobody gets hurt.
Bmwolf21 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 WOLVERINES!!!! Just wait till the Red Dawn remake comes out later this year.
