deluca67 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 And George Bush intentionally let the World Trade Center get destroyed to go to war in the Middle East to make Cheney richer through contracts to Halliburton. And Obama is a socialist plant turning us into the USSR. And aliens are abducting humans for cross-breeding and will take over the world. And the rapture is happening on December 21. Did I miss anything? These ridiculous conspiracy theories have to stop. That ridiculous, GW didn't even know what the World Trade Center was before the attacks.
bunomatic Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 It was a clean hit. Was someone supposed to get an instigater penalty over a clean hit? I would have liked to see a big hit returned on a Bruin of substance though. Turnaround is fair play and all that. I get where you're comin from here but for the past few years clean hit or not when a star player in this league gets rocked like that someone stands up and delivers a message. I've seen it countless times from almost every team in this league. Except Buffalo.

Hard Rain Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 i reject this completely..... what is he doing in practice ?...just loafing around ?....if this is true, then shame on the coaches for not keeping him sharp.....seems to me it would be pretty easy....you telling me all the shots taken in practice are at half speed or something....players aren't really trying to put the puck in the net.....i've been at practices.....there are hundreds of shots taken.....somehow the 30 he faces in a real game are different ?? I bet both Enroth and Miller look like superstars against this Sabres squad in practice.
Stormin Norman Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I never saw anyone come to Vaneks aid last night. If that was Bostons best goalscorer getting rocked numerous guys would have stepped forward to send a message. This team is full of pussies who won't go to war for each other. Since the deadline we've gotten smaller and we have been pushed off pucks, pushed around and lost puck battles all night. We are going in the opposite direction of the rest of the league while everyone adds heart and soul guys with physical and mental toughness we bring in smallish skill guys who can't play without the type of players surrounding them that every other team in the league has loaded up with. It would literally take one game in the playoffs for the opposition to soften this team up. Agree on all counts. But all the ills you've pointed out were present before the deadline. In many ways, I would say since we lost Briere and Drury and McKee and Grier. But your central point is on the mark.
Stormin Norman Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 - And this brings me back to the key flaw in this team: the forwards aren't good enough, neither on the forecheck nor in skilled play, to win tight, playoff-style hockey. - Another very solid game by Sulzer. Nothing flashy, but a nice, steady, competent defensive game. He had the 2nd most ice time on the team. I have noticed all season long -- and especially last night -- how we are so soft on the puck on the forecheck. The number of times we do a dump and chase... only to see the other team quickly move the puck back out is totally maddening. And I have to agree that Sulzer has been a pleasant surprise. I have really liked his game so far. He can play a physical game and seems to help maintain a steadying influence on the 'D'. As I watched him at the game last night, he exuded the look of a guy who is grateful and truly happy to be playing. There's a bounce in his step. Contrast that with Stafford....
deluca67 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 It was a clean hit. Was someone supposed to get an instigater penalty over a clean hit? I would have liked to see a big hit returned on a Bruin of substance though. Turnaround is fair play and all that. You can't let teams take liberties clean or not. I am starting to believe that if you remove the instigator rule the number of injuries suffered by the leagues better players would decrease dramatically. It has nothing to do with being clean or dirty, it has to do with making sure your better players have the room they need to be effective.
bunomatic Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Um... ;) Ya I guess its different when it happens to your own team. If it makes me a hypocrite to say it well so be it. Its kind of like an arms race where everyone is building up arms to protect their interests except the sabres. They've decided to go put flowers in the barrel of the other teams guns. Well we all know where that'll get you in a quest for a stanley cup.
SabreFX Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 John Vogl reported the lines got shuffled for practice today: Leino-Hodgson-Pominville Stafford-Ennis-Boyes Gerbe-Roy-Tropp Kaleta wasn't on the ice for "maintenance", McCormick's been cleared for contact and skated. Not sure where Matt Ellis fits in, but I've been liking his play lately. Shame about Vanek being hurt, but if that's what it takes to get Roy off the top line, I'm all for it. Good to see Ennis back at Center. He's been aggravating me the past few games the way he enters the offensive zone partially on the wing/partially in the middle and tries to take it through traffic only to lose the puck. I'll agree with those who have commented on Vanek slipping back into his coma last night way before the hit. You would think a guy who finally snaps a slump would have a little more jump in his step in order to keep things on track. Well, at least that's what Pominville did. I loved the confidence he showed taking that short-side shot on Thomas for the goal. I guess when he looked to his left and saw his only other option was to pass it to Roy he said "Eff that ess". I love Gerbe's feistiness but I'm really sick of him taking those (usually wide) shots from the outside. He's the one guy consistently showing speed and breaking into the zone, but just can't get anything done with it. Boy needs to make some moves once he's inside the zone to cut into the middle.
Guest Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I really don't think he was serious. Rather just making a point. Someone gets it, thanks! Those backhanded replies are the main reason I rarely post on TBD anymore.
