Has your opinion of Darcy changed?

I'm still squarely agnostic to Darcy. Devil you know I guess..

:worthy: I agree, I'm excited about the new toys. Time will tell whether he is a favorite toy or a toy heap toy..

Don't get me wrong....I love this day. It's fun seeing the new guys come in and following how our old guys do. I don't think today was bad at all. You still need a couple captains in here.

Hodgson refused treatment from Canucks training staff and got his own doctors, his father got into a spat with the coach, he refused to show up to prospects camp the next year.

His success this year caught everyone by surprise given his history with the team.

I'm just sayin.....I don't want to villify the guy, he's still a kid. We are just seeing a little Christmas Morning Syndrome here. A new toy is awesome for a few weeks, then gets tossed into the pile with the 19 others.

Picking this kid up is fine. I just wish it was Stafford and Leopold instead of Kassian.

I doubt you're going to get into any argument on that. I think you also know you're not going to get a franchise's top organizational prospect for Stafford and Leopold.

When they are 1 game away from the cup.......yes you can. They needed a RW a gritty center and a Dman with offense. I don't know how the talks went, and once Gaustad wasn't needed the dynamics could have changed, but Vancouver is loaded at center and Hodgson was a punk to them early on. I bet there was another way to get this done. We will never know.

But size doesn't always translate to strength and playing style. He might not weigh a lot, but he looks strong, and his frame is a good height to build on. Does he get taken off of pucks easily?

He plays small.. like pom, 5'11"/ 185 or Roy 5'9"-5"10" 185 or Adam 6'2" 200lbs? not like kaleta...5'10" 200.... could change under Lindy :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

I am sure Stasi will find and put up his hit stats

It's probably a completely pointless conversation based on conjecture, but what the hell. The Canucks' GM said they needed bigger bodies to grind through the playoffs, wanted some more size and toughness. Who else do we have who is capable of playing in the NHL right now with top-6 ability that fits that description? Stafford and Leopold? Nope. Roy? Nope. I really fail to see another option that fits what they wanted.

But I'm sure you'll let us know of all those infinite possibilities, since there is indeed no way to ever know.

Did Darcy talk to the media about the day? If so does anyone know if there is anywhere we can listen to it now?

yes he did. Search WGR.

He did talk to the media after the deadline passed. I haven't checked but it's probably at wgr550.com.

My opinion on Darcy hasn't changed but I do like the player he brought in. Hodgson was a difference maker when he played and at about 12 minutes a night on the 3rd line. He should get considerably more, hopefully 1st line minutes. Kid has smarts, wheels and a real nice shot. That being said I hate that it was Zack going the other way but you have to give to get.

So Sabres traded a "punk early on" for another team's "punk early on". I wonder if the Sabres ever got over that bar fight?

Thanks, I just found and listened to it.

A few things I found interesting (and sorry if these were already brought up). First, Darcy said that Nashville wasn't the first team that offered a first round pick for goose. He went on to say that that team eventually withdrew the offer, however. Also that the Nashville deal was on and off going back to midnight last night until it was finally completed. He said that things were very quiet until about 1:30 this afternoon. That had to be a rough situation, knowing that you're an hour and a half away from giving fans a legitimate reason to call for your head. It had to be tough not to take a lesser offer at that point.

The one thing that I was hoping to hear him talk about was how the Kassian-Hodgson trade started. I'm wondering who made the first contact, whether it was Buffalo shopping Kassian or Vancouver looking to deal Hodgson.

Anyone have any info there?

What are those kids called who no matter what they get for Christmas, they complain anyway?

So, wait, getting Hodgson was supposed to make everyone forget that Roy, Stafford, Leino, Boyes, and the rest of them are still here? I wish I knew why so many people just lie in wait for you, GoDD.

Who are the people that can pretty much plan a 3 month overseas vacation starting every April?

Hint...they wear blue and gold....

It just gets beyond tiresome how you turn everything into the same exact complaints and conspiracy theories. I still have no idea why you find it so entertaining to come here for no reason other than to agitate people. And let's face it, that's all you're doing here. You were going to say these same exact things regardless of what they did today.

So what you're saying is you're disappointed we didn't give Vancouver our garbage for him? That makes sense.

How weird. He doesn't annoy me one bit.

I like reading GoDD's posts. It'd be boring if we all sat here and agreed with each other all day.

I like reading his posts when it's not the same whining negative complaint he has done ad nausem for 2-3 years now
