SabresFan526 Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Unbelieveable return for Gaustad. Unbelievable! I love Goose. He was a great Buffalo kind of guy and Sabre. But, let's be real. All he did was win faceoffs, and I will give him credit that he was pretty decent in the role of a third line checking center against the other team's top line. But, he brings no offense. To get a first round pick for that is unbelievable. It's a great return and the Sabres have 2 first round picks this year. If they could have rid themselves of Boyes, but I understand moving that contract would have been impossible. I will commend DR for getting a first for Gaustad. Amazing!
Randall Flagg Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 So... Who's rooting for Nashville this spring?
Robviously Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 So... Who's rooting for Nashville this spring? I hope they lose all their remaining regular season games, still make the playoffs, and then win the Cup.
Randall Flagg Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 I hope they lose all their remaining regular season games, still make the playoffs, and then win the Cup. Why lose out the regular season?
TheChimp Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 I hope they lose all their remaining regular season games, still make the playoffs, and then win the Cup. I thought they counted playoff success when calculating the depth of the team's pick. If not, then I'm with you!!
Randall Flagg Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Why lose out the regular season? Oh duh sorry. Never mind, had a blonde moment.

If not, then I'm with you!! I think the draft order is based on the regular season only. The Sabres picked 20th overall in Summer 1999 even though they'd lost in the SC Finals only a few days before.
Redemption City Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Goose will finally get his chance to run Lindback.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Other than faceoffs, Kassian can cover for Gaustad. lol
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Haha! Guess not. Tropp and Foligno look to be part of our plans in the very near future i guess!
darksabre Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Tropp and Foligno look to be part of our plans in the very near future i guess! And I like the sound of that a lot.
inkman Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Really? i mean yeah we got a first rounder.......but were obviously sellers. Goose was our best faceoff man and great on the powerplay as well as shutting down the oppenents best player. We are going to see just how much Goose meant to this team. Now who's going to stand up and fight? Kaleta? kassian? Even if Kass was still a Sabre, it wasn't like he was fighting everyone...he had two fights. Kaleta may have to scrap more. I'm guessing Regehr, Weber, will pick up the slack. Maybe Tropp or Foligno if hey are called up. God forbid if Stafford decided to drop the gloves...

... Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 And I like the sound of that a lot. Add McNabb to that list.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Add McNabb to that list. This is why i like the deadline deal. we already have grit, it's just in the AHL.

Cereal Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Playoffs DO count in the draft order... SC Winner drafts 30th, etc.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Entry_Draft#Selection_order_and_Draft_lottery
TheChimp Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Playoffs DO count in the draft order... SC Winner drafts 30th, etc.... http://en.wikipedia....d_Draft_lottery Good to know. ###### Nashville :P
LabattBlue Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 This is why i like the deadline deal. we already have grit, it's just in the AHL. Just not in the top 6. This needs to be addressed in the off-season!
Randall Flagg Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Goose wouldn't be playing tonight, right?
LabattBlue Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Goose wouldn't be playing tonight, right? nope
Eleven Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 Stafford on LTIR would rock. If there's a way I can make it happen without getting caught, please let me know. Jeff Gillooly, I'm lookin' at you....
