walstib Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 http://www.wgrz.com/...-Day-in-America An unfortunate circumstance of the Sabres' involvement in NBC's Hockey Day in America is that this Sunday is essentially the only day all year that it is difficult, if not impossible, for those of us in certain markets (for example here on the West Coast) to watch the Sabres game, despite having the Center Ice Package. This market will receive NBC's feed of the Sharks v Red Wings game that starts at the exact same time. I may be forced to ruin a perfectly good Sunday morning with exercise or yard work. My apologies if this is better suited towards the Complaint Thursdays thread...
shrader Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Maybe my memory is off, but I would have sworn that that other regional feeds from NBC do wind up on center ice.

I will happily stand corrected and hope you are right. That said, nothing listed on the Directv guide in the Center Ice channels currently indicates it will be broadcast there.
Taro T Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Maybe my memory is off, but I would have sworn that that other regional feeds from NBC do wind up on center ice. That's the way it's worked in the past.
Drunkard Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 That's the way it's worked in the past. That's not how it happened last year. I have Directv and live in NC and the Sabres game wasn't broadcasted on any channel despite me having Center Ice. I had to find an online feed and stream it.
Two or less Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 http://www.wgrz.com/...-Day-in-America An unfortunate circumstance of the Sabres' involvement in NBC's Hockey Day in America is that this Sunday is essentially the only day all year that it is difficult, if not impossible, for those of us in certain markets (for example here on the West Coast) to watch the Sabres game, despite having the Center Ice Package. MLB extra innings does not offer this during their FOX saturday games but NHL does. If for some reason they do not, i believe NBCsports.com will televise all the games online.
walstib Posted February 16, 2012 Author Report Posted February 16, 2012 "If for some reason they do not, i believe NBCsports.com will televise all the games online." - good point. Vanek-Man will be credited with an assist if nbcsports.com is my viewing method come this Sunday. I raise my beverage in your general direction, sir...
That Aud Smell Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 hope it works out for you, walstib. i'd only ask that you lurk less and post more -- i can sense a treasure trove of great content in the postings i see here.
IKnowPhysics Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Update. NBC is streaming all three early games online in HD for free on their "NHL Extra" player (US only): http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/45340521 Spread the word to the other Buffalo expats. And I saw that programing for NHLN and NBCS was TBA on my programming guide for the early timeslots. Maybe that's because they'll carry the non-regionally selected games? I'll look around at game time and have the laptop ready to jack into the TV.
Lanny Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Last year I recall being able to watch the Sabres game online for free on either NHL.com or NBC's sports website. I think you have to register in order to use it however.

At least in my ability to watch the Sabres this Sunday (tomorrow)...In their ability to come away victorious?? Tempered optimism is the operative term. Many thanks for the insight folks.

frissonic Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 I used that feed yesterday,,, My only gripe was the quality of the feed. It was the blurriest game I have seen all year. It could have been your incoming internet speed. I had HD on my monitor for the entire game, but I'm sporting 40mbps DSL.
