TrueBlueGED Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 Patty should have played in the 70s when no one would have cared. Yep. And I'm not sure how much of that blog describing his weekend I believe. Actually I do, none of it. The story tells us of fights and groping girls, yet in every picture, he's just sittin' around and most of the girls are groping him. Even if everything was 100% true, I still don't care. The kid is a jerk (from his family it wouldn't surprise me. His father was arguing with the owner of Gold's Gym for a free membership....because he was Pat Kane's father. Apparently that's supposed to mean something.), like a lot of athletes are, but unless somebody from my team is doing this on game days or the night before a game so it impacts their play, it's really none of my business.

If it's true, and the Blackhawks have asked Kane to go for counseling...I hope Kaner straightens himself out. I don't take the view that because it's in the offseason, you hush about it. There have been numerous incidents and the kid may be spiralling out of control personally. I don't think the Sabres should gamble on a guy with drinking problems, a native Buffalonian or not. http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpps/sports/blackhawks-suggest-kane-seek-alcohol-counseling-dpgonc-20120530-to_20343438

One thing that there is a great shortage in this world is people actually enjoying their lives. Miller and Vanek for Kane and prospects/picks. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

History shows us that nothing guarantees a lifetime of fun like out-of-control substance abuse!
LGR4GM Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 maybe its because I am in my mid 20's and I go out with friends and we drink, but going out on cinco and getting drunk seems pretty normal for a 23 yr old... His season was over and he went out drinking with friends... wth should the rest of us care or pass judgement? whatever, carryon this has no impact on my life
Weave Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 I'm certainly not interested in passing judgement on the kid, but my head tells me that if the team has asked him to get some help it probably means that his fun has reached a point where the team has genuine concerns about it affecting his performance. He's certainly not the first kid to have that sort of problem (*IF* he does in fact have a problem developing), and many have overcome it and gone on to great things (Chris Pronger, I'm lookin' at you). But there is more than a few that have had party issues reduce them to a small fraction of what they could be too.

And if you want to live this public life where you're paid multi million dollars per year, you better be ready to be held to a higher standard.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 Totally! History shows us that nothing guarantees a lifetime of fun like out-of-control substance abuse! Hey, we never said the lifetime needed to be long.

His season was over and he went out drinking with friends... wth should the rest of us care or pass judgement? whatever, carryon this has no impact on my life The thing is that this isn't just one incident, its been a bunch of incidents that the team seems to be concerned about. Remember how wasted he was during the teams SC parade? No ones saying he can't go out and have fun, but he is in the public eye, and has a high profile job and this kind of behaviour starts to look bad on the team. He isn't just some regular frat/college kid, he gave that up to go make millions playing pro hockey, where they expect you to grow up and be an adult. Its why they pay you big money. It seems like every time he goes out in public, he has to be drinking and is drunk. Now I'm not saying that I wouldn't want him on my team if he can show he can grow up and leave the party life behind.
