I'm commenting on how all of a sudden face-offs have become the most important stat on this board. I mean goals, assists, wins have become meaningless.

i'm certainly not saying faceoffs are the "most" important stat......i'm also not saying gaustad should get $5 mil/yr.....but faceoffs/rebounds and possesion are VERY important.....and one of the most underated aspects of the game. to me Gaustad is much more valuable than all those other players i mentioned (Roy, Boyes, Ellis, McCormick, Stafford, Gerbe, Leino, Hecht...).

WGR said there's alot of talk that Gaustad to Detroit is done, but nothing that was any bit reliable.

Hmm .. Detroit already traded their #1 pick this year, which is likely almost a low #2 anyway, so it would have to be for a prospect or player. At least, I hope that Darcy isn't taking a late second-round pick this early in the day.

Who is soruce? Never heard of him.

**UPDATED NHL RUMOR**Source: Hearing Gaustad has been traded! Deal going through NHL offices right now

You'd look at his twitter feed and think he's a joke, but he's been right w/ Bills rumors before and had Kostitsyn to Nashville a good 20 minutes before TSN or anyone else did. So there could be something.

not sure if your busting my onions or what.......but faceoffs in hockey are like rebounds in basketball.....they are so called "50/50" loose balls/pucks where gaining possesion is very important. Gaustad is consistently year after year a league leader. his plus/minus on the sabres is top 10. he's big, he plays physical, he fights, he wins faceoffs...he does all the dirty work. get rid of in order Roy, Boyes, Ellis, McCormick, Stafford, Gerbe, Leino, Hecht...BEFORE you get rid of Gaustad.

If the Sabres could have beaten Rod the Bod Brind'amoor back in the ECF, the Sabres would have been in the SCF. Oh yeah... IMHO...

If it is Detroit, look for a first in 2013.....

Sorry cant give the source but just letting you know what im hearing. Some might know me but am Buffalo83 from the old LetsGoSabres.com

Heck...I'll take rumors at this point. Any word on the return?

Maybe its me, but I dont think trading for picks is what they are really looking to do. I think they are looking to win more so now than "rebuild". Its doesnt make sense looking at the way they have structured their existing contracts.

If Goose is traded I dont think its a 1st and the pick is likely to flip for another move.

Goose has been terrible for most of the year. He wins faceoffs but isnt the physical wreckin gball some make him out to be. at 6'4 210 lbs he doesnt scare anyone. His not standing up for Miller will forever be his legacy in my eyes.

Fine, but can you tell us anything that supports the credibility of the source?

And anything about Gaustad's destination and the return for the trade?

Otherwise, not much value added.

Wouldn't mind it if they could get Sheahan. Wasn't he supposedly the player Darcy was so upset about getting chosen right before the Sabres picked in 2010?

Red Wings are NOT acquiring Paul Gaustad.
