BetterDays06 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I don't understand why Darcy has to wait to do all of his trading on deadline day. Make a splash before and on the 27th.. The market has been basically set and by the looks of it if we sold off Roy, goose, Leo, staff and boyes the return value would be amazing
SDS Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Three guess on who scored with 1:47 left in regulation to help the Panthers in their 3-2 SO victory over the Canes. Instant dividends on that investment. Like Steve Bernier and Brad Boyes 1st games?
Tony P Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 The below is from Michael Russo, the Wild's beat writer for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. I'm not a big fan of this guy but he's pretty plugged-in to the NHL. Nothing really earth shattering but "...Roy's shoulder"? "...Buffalo's heavily shopping Brad Boyes. But so far, no takers, including the Wild, because his skating is a major issue. Paul Gaustad is a pending free agent and could be moved. The Sabres also continue to try to trade Derek Roy, but concern over his shoulder and a $4 million cap hit next year is scaring teams off..." http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/140402453.html
Marvelo Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 The Sabres are loaded with bad and stupid contracts. Looking on all of the extra money we've paid these mercenaries, it would seem that they were bribed to come to Buffalo. I wouldn't mind trading Vanek for one. He's good, but I feel for someone getting paid $7 million/year, he's not nearly good enough. I would think for example that someone who's getting paid that much could skate like the wind. Vanek skates like he belongs in a 40 and over league. He's been good I repeat. But not nearly consistent enough and taking stupid penalties all along, probably because he can't skate.

He's been back and healthy for a while now. There will be 10-15 teams looking at Roy Sunday.. Great link thanks!
deluca67 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Roy's shoulder is fine now. He's been back and healthy for a while now. There will be 10-15 teams looking at Roy Sunday.. Great link thanks! What is that based on? Like Steve Bernier and Brad Boyes 1st games? And it didn't take Brian Campbell or second round picks to get it done.
BetterDays06 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 What is that based on? my own judgement. A #1 or #2 center(depending on what team he's on) with a cap hit of 4 mil and 1 year left on his contract, will probably be looked at by most of the NHL teams. As we know centers are rare and very valuable.
Derrico Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I don't understand why Darcy has to wait to do all of his trading on deadline day. Make a splash before and on the 27th.. The market has been basically set and by the looks of it if we sold off Roy, goose, Leo, staff and boyes the return value would be amazing I agree that he should be making deals now. However, to get technical, last year's 'big acquisition' (please don't anlayse the trade just the time of it) came the day (evening) prior to deadline day :P
TheFunPolice Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I just want Roy traded... PLEASE He is poison to the locker room. The run they went on last year was when he was OUT. Addition by subtraction. Yeah, get what you can back, of course, but I would just be happy that he was gone and that cap space could be freed up for next year. listening to Darcy on WGR the past two weeks I am not sure what to think.... On the one hand, he referenced being able to "learn and change" last week and said he would argue that taking a step back this year with an eye toward the future would be "worth it" But then he went babbling on about how using total points earned to determine how far the Sabres were out of the playoffs was "wrong" and said how Detriot's "core" has been together even longer than the Sabres core, as if to say he didn't get why Sabres fans were tired of the same "core" players here Of course, Detriot has won multiple cups and is a top contender just about every year, but hey, other than that it's the same thing! Fighting for 8th place and making it less than every other season is awesome!
spndnchz Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Rick Nash on the ice in Pittsburgh. warming up for CBJ.
BetterDays06 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 About 26 hrs until deadline is over. I am hoping to see the sabres with 5-6 draft picks and a prospect or a nice league ready player.. That would involve about 4 players to be gone
LaLaLaFontaine Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I fear that we won't trade anything. We are even not included in this top 10 list: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/26/your-pht-trade-deadline-day-primer/ I don't believe that our players are worthless but i believe/fear that our " godlike" management won't do anything.
Lanny Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Gaustad Drawing A Ton of Attention. The Sabres had a very strong weekend taking 3 of 4 points from Boston and the Rangers. It really puts the Sabres in a predicament of being sellers or buyers. All that aside, the suitors for Paul Gaustad is about a dozen, and the possible return great. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/ They've no choice but to move him if true.
Robviously Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 http://www.hockeybuzz.com/ They've no choice but to move him if true. If Vancouver really wants him, I'd love to have their 1st round pick or Niklas Jensen (their first round pick from last year). That's asking a lot but they're trying to win the Cup this year and Gaustad has been playing well.
Patty16 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 http://www.hockeybuzz.com/ They've no choice but to move him if true. Hockeybuzz???
BetterDays06 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 What are some good hockey trade websites?? Like rumors and things like that
sabills Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 What are some good hockey trade websites?? Like rumors and things like that that depends, do you want volume or accuracy...?
BetterDays06 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 that depends, do you want volume or accuracy...? both if you have any. Please and thank you
Punch Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 What are some good hockey trade websites?? Like rumors and things like that mynhltraderumors.com does a good job of collecting credible info from all over the webosphere.
Eleven Posted February 26, 2012 Author Report Posted February 26, 2012 spector's hockey is always good.
SarasotaSabre Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I just want Roy traded... PLEASE He is poison to the locker room. The run they went on last year was when he was OUT. Fighting for 8th place and making it less than every other season is awesome! I agree with your take on Roy and would agree 100% if he was not a center - that's the predicament IMHO; if we deal Roy, we create a deeper hole to an already weak position. If we deal Roy that tells me we really are in sell mode and are perhaps giving up on a playoff run.
TheFunPolice Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I do understand the fear of getting rid of a center, but it doesn't really matter for this season. With Roy out, the team did BETTER last year, and that's without center depth just like now. Plus, we might be able to really get a nice return for him if Gaustad will net us a nice return. Trade both, ground Stafford (since he's Lindy's "son" and all) and give the fans HOPE that next season might look different.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 I wonder if we would try to re-sign Goose July 1st
Punch Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 According to Brad May, re: Gaustad--- Brad May @maydayhockey #scoop I'm hearing that Paul Gaustad will cost a first round pick if traded! and is looking for a 5-6 year deal at 3 mill
Marvelo Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 My idea: Nash for Vanek and Stafford.
