Robviously Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I would be surprised if Gaustad goes. We may hear of a new contract for him by the deadline, rather than he was traded. If we hear of a new contract, that means Gaustad wanted to stay. If he is not traded, but doesn't get a new contract by the deadline, it means he was okay with being traded, but DR wouldn't let him go. I wouldn't be surprised by this either, but it would be stunningly stupid. We could trade him at the deadline (probably scooping up a 2nd round pick) and then just re-sign him this summer. Why extend him at the deadline? 1. Demand isn't going to be that crazy when he's a UFA and 2. if we lose him, it's not the end of the world. However, if anyone is interested in Boyes, DR better be get on that. Yuck, I hate having to rely on DR to do this stuff... The Kings have the lowest goals-scored in the NHL and are currently in the playoffs (if the season ended today). You would think they'd be willing to part with a draft pick to rent Boyes just to see if he can help them at all.

Frankly, unless we lose both weekend games and other teams win leaving us 9 points out, I don't expect anyone to go. Maybe Boyes would go, but if Regier believes we have a real chance at the playoffs I can't picture him selling anyone who contributes to the team.

nfreeman Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Yeah, I'm already on record on this site as saying Ott is a guy that the Sabres need to go after this offseason. He's not the penalty killer Goose is but he brings everything else that we want Goose to bring. He is fearless and he is a huge competitor. Yes. I won't say it, as my views on the matter are well known.
wonderbread Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Reported that Darcy is trying to re-sign Gaustad. As per GR update at 2 pm.
korab rules Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Reported that Darcy is trying to re-sign Gaustad. As per GR update at 2 pm. why can't we rent out players and then re-sign them in the offseason like St. Louis seemed to always do? St. Louis has done it a couple times, including Doug Weight. In 2007, the blues traded Keith Tkachuck to Atlanta for Glen Metropolit,a 1st round pick in 2007, a 3rd round pick in 2007 (Brett Sonne), a 2nd round pick in 2008 and a conditional 1st round pick in 2008. THEN - in June of 2007 Atlanta trades Tkachuck AND A FOURTH back to the Blues for their own 1st round pick in 2008. So -for the privilege of leasing Tkachuck for the playoffs, Atlanta paid Metropolit, a and a first, second third and fourth round pick. Holy ######! Where do we sign up for this lease program!

Eleven Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 why can't we rent out players and then re-sign them in the offseason like St. Louis seemed to always do? Wasn't it Keith Tch--aww, hell with it--seeemingly every year? And this is definitely the move to make with Goose, especially if he's ok with it (and I have heard it reported that he is ok with it, but I don't recall where).

Eleven Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 Rumor: Kings interested in Stafford and Pominville. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/lak120222.html
shrader Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Rumor: Kings interested in Stafford and Pominville. http://www.thefourth.../lak120222.html They actually sound like a perfect option for Stafford. Their offense has been struggling badly. They're far more likely to take a chance on a guy who has scored 30 so recently.

The Kings GM might be slightly competent though and looked at Boyes production and history and decide the pick is worth more in the bank
korab rules Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Rumor: Kings interested in Stafford and Pominville. http://www.thefourth.../lak120222.html Hey chz - what's the credibility quotient for this place?

They're far more likely to take a chance on a guy who has scored 30 so recently. Sure, and we'd all trade Stafford for draft picks. But POMINVILLE? Who do you see (from the Kings' perspective, too) coming back in that one?
Robviously Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Rumor: Kings interested in Stafford and Pominville. http://www.thefourth.../lak120222.html I'm struggling to figure out who we would want in return, especially for Pominville. Kopitar is our dream pick-up but there's no way the Kings would deal him, right?
ROCBuffalo Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 The only guy I would like other then Kopitar is Johnson.
darksabre Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Sure, and we'd all trade Stafford for draft picks. But POMINVILLE? Who do you see (from the Kings' perspective, too) coming back in that one? I'd rather just keep Pominville, to be honest.
shrader Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Sure, and we'd all trade Stafford for draft picks. But POMINVILLE? Who do you see (from the Kings' perspective, too) coming back in that one? It's only a matter of time before someone suggests the captain for captain trade.

Kopitar is our dream pick-up but there's no way the Kings would deal him, right? I can't think of whom the Kings would deal, whom the Sabres also would want. A comment from a Kings fan in the link I provided indicates that fan's belief that LA will only trade G and D, which the Sabres don't need. I'd want Brown. LA's not trading him. I'd rather just keep Pominville, to be honest. Yep. It's only a matter of time before someone suggests the captain for captain trade. I mentioned it, but I'm not suggesting it.
shrader Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I mentioned it, but I'm not suggesting it. And your timing was incredible.
Robviously Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I'd rather just keep Pominville, to be honest. We could keep Pominville but trade Pomminstein.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Stafford for Kyle Clifford and a pick
nfreeman Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Rumor: Kings interested in Stafford and Pominville. http://www.thefourth.../lak120222.html Sure, and we'd all trade Stafford for draft picks. But POMINVILLE? Who do you see (from the Kings' perspective, too) coming back in that one? Mike Richards or Dustin Brown. They also have a nifty Russian rookie center who is too small. How 'bout Pommer, Stafford and a #1 for Richards and Brown (both of whom are 27, tough and under contract for at least 3 more years)? Yes, please.
shrader Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Stafford for Kyle Clifford and a pick I'd expect something like a high pick and Penner's expiring contract. The Kings don't have all that much space to work with.
