Iron Crotch Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Any guess as to who is 3rd on the Sabres in even strength goals this year (only 1 behind Vanek)? Hint: the last game he played was against San Antonio.
Who Else? Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Robi with some nice words for Kovy, calling all the complaints about Kovy being selfish "gargbage.' Referred to Kovy as "the real deal." He is a goal scorer. These players float into areas to score. When you don't see him backcheck aggresively you say lazy. When Jersey gets the puck out to him and he gets a breakaway or a great scoring chance, that same laziness is deemed great awareness. Phil Kessel does the same thing, but he is not European so no one calls him lazy for it.
Derrico Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 This group is essentially injury free and they can't muster any offence. I've seen enough to know beyond a reasonable doubt that this is just a very bad team. The make up or mix of players, the size issue, the lack of quality centres throughout the lines, the lack of heart, grit or sandpaper, the lack of ballz, no scoring depth, poor management, whats beginning to look like poor ownership, at times poor coaching decisions, it all adds up to where we are right now. The highest payroll in the league and we very well may be in the draft lottery when all is said and done. Please wake up Mr. Pegula. Before you start to lose fans. If the people of Buffalo weren't so passionate about their team I would be very very worried about what seems to be inaction on your part to rectify this dire situation. Completely agree with all of this. On paper this team looked decent but when things starting going astray, why has nothing been done? I love this team and don't want to give up on the season but can't help but think the losing may (with Darcy I stress MAY) change things and be better for us in the long run.
JJFIVEOH Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Bill Lindsey was tearing Kovalchuk up during the Panthers-Devils game the other night saying the exact same thing about Kovalchuk. They used to be teammates and he was saying Kovalchuk would usually only put in an effort when it would make him look good; he usually just gave up in the defensive zone. Pretty much what Rob Ray was saying.

Weave Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Who the f### is Bill Lindsey? Had a long career with a bunch of teams. Was a gritty, heart and soul guy. Played a long time with the Panthers back when they were decent, among others. Edit- Should be spelled Lindsay

He's the same guy that says Kovy wouldn't help the Sabres win a Cup. Did he wear number Eleven? Back to the game. These two loses don't both me as much as this team playing these two games as if they were just two midweek games in November. No urgency, no desperation, it's as if they forgot they are in a fight for their playoff lives. You would think they had a playoff spot sewn up.

Bmwolf21 Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Let's face it, I hate him. Nothing anyone is going to say is going to change my mind. It may not be rational but I just can't stand him. I can respect this. I too have players I hate irrationally.

Oh stop.. everyone already knows that Buffalo fans are too stupid and desperate to actually stop paying attention to their inept sports teams. It's part of the culture. We can all be thankful now.. we have become the NY Rangers of the early 2000's. I'm done with this team.. no more watching games for me. I'll probably dial back my DirecTV or perhaps even cancel it.. save some money while I'm at it. Once Roy took that last tripping penalty I turned it off and went onto something more productive.
bunomatic Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I can respect this. I too have players I hate irrationally. As do I. And most of them I would call floaters. A couple of which play in Buffalo.

nobody Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Not many "lazy" players averaging over 24 minutes a game. Derek Roy would be. <_< I know 2 of the goals were PP but Roy was on the ice for all 4 against. Plus - his line only scored when he wasn't on it! I also love how the team is scoring some goals with Leino on the line with Pominville so of course Lindy takes Leino off that line. Anything really wrong with trying Vanek, Pominville & Leino? Or maybe Gerbe, Ennis, Leino? And I mean for more than one shift Lindy.
Bmwolf21 Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 This is what I want to hear from our coach: Q: What’s the scenario for Penner right now? What’s the message or what do you need to see? Sutter: “Work your ass off. Then you get a chance to play again. If you don’t, you don’t. It’s pretty clear.” Q: Is he back to square one as far as that’s concerned? Sutter: “I think when you’re told to work your ass off, that IS square one.” http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/14/darryl-sutter-wont-play-dustin-penner-until-he-works-his-ass-off/

Robviously Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Don't let the last two weeks fool you. We were sellers in December. I knew that in December. I don't want the last two weeks to fool Pegula.
nfreeman Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Just so i can be that guy... Anyone think its more than a coincidence that we played like dogshit once lindy got back behind the bench? :flirt: They were just as bad vs TB, when Jeep was behind the bench. These two loses don't both me as much as this team playing these two games as if they were just two midweek games in November. No urgency, no desperation, it's as if they forgot they are in a fight for their playoff lives. You would think they had a playoff spot sewn up. Agree 100%. I hope I'm wrong but I think the season is over. What a disgrace. Yet another one in a season full of them. Zero forecheck, zero intensity, zero forced penalties in the first 2 periods. The right thing to do is to fire DR immediately and let someone else manage the auction of most of the Sabres' forwards at the deadline and the summer FA season. Philly remade its team on the fly a few years ago with the determination to do so plus deep pockets. There is no reason the Sabres can't do the same with their forward group. I do think TP will make the right moves. It will probably take longer than we want, but it will happen.
