Sabre Dance Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 I would like to see the numbers, I am surprised I am not able to see them online anywhere. This is interesting, from a article Sept 2010 Teams that have more “Goals For” than “Goals Against” in their history. Montreal Canadiens +3,520 Boston Bruins +1,532 Philadelphia Flyers +1,445 Buffalo Sabres +989 Detroit Red Wings +850 Calgary Flames +532 Edmonton Oilers +448 Colorado Avalanche +220 New York Islanders +203 Well, with the Bruins and Canadiens being "Original Six" teams, I can see the large goal differential. But the Flyers have only been around three seasons longer than the Sabres and their goal differential is 456 higher than Buffalo's. So either they've scored a LOT more goals than the Sabres or they have a much better defense (historically). Also, interesting that Buffalo is fourth (and ahead of Detroit). Also, also interesting is that the Sabres are the only team on the list without at least one Stanley Cup.

Since 1970: Montreal 8 Boston 3 Philly 2 Detroit 4 Calgary 1 Edmonton 5 Colorado 2 NY 4 What's that all about? It would be really sad if the Sabres missed their "golden hour"
drnkirishone Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 So there's a look into my thought process. Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought I just didn't have good enough insuarance to cover my psych meds. I'm still not convinced this isn't the real reason :P
IKnowPhysics Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 There were so many years (namely '66 to '86) where Detroit was just so, so ######.

shrader Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012  A 2531 point improvement in goal differential over 14 years. Come on, it's totally doable.
