neverenough Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 am I wrong when I say Tyler Myers can't aim from the point? Constantly misses the net. I've seen it too way many times to think it could be a set play - carom off the boards. am i wrong when i say Ted Black is a hockey genius?
Randall Flagg Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 am I wrong when I say Tyler Myers can't aim from the point? Constantly misses the net. I've seen it too way many times to think it could be a set play - carom off the boards. His aim and hitting ability both seem to have been in a steady decline, I can't remember the last time he hit the net when positioned at the point.
fiftyone Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 am i wrong when i say Ted Black is a hockey genius? Compared to you? Probably not, no.
TheChimp Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 am I wrong when I say Tyler Myers can't aim from the point? Constantly misses the net. I've seen it too way many times to think it could be a set play - carom off the boards. You mean the ones that hit the back wall low and come right out in front of the net? Pretty sure it's on purpose. Otherwise he'd be sending them high off the glass not just wide, IMO.
qwksndmonster Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Just when the crowd was starting to get into it, too. That's what I said, then I realized my mistake and changed it to "Just when we were starting to get into it..." My first game at the FNC. Great night with my family, but the game wasn't nearly as good as the Cornell game I went to yesterday  I'm now 0-1-1 in Sabres games attended. That post Ehrhoff hit is still ringing in my head.
JJFIVEOH Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 I wish Roy would be more like Boyes............... completely invisible instead of a detriment.
deluca67 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 Compared to you? Probably not, no. Ted Black is no more a "hockey genius" than the average fan. He is a media guy. Pegula made his money in natural gas not hockey. Neither are a "hockey genius." Oh well. OTT, TOR & WPG all lost tonight as well so we didn't lose ground. PTR Except for now being in 14th place with 6 teams between themselves and 8th place. I was really disappointed in the Sabres all around tonight. IMO, they allowed Tampa to play their game instead of forcing the issue. Tampa is a soft team on the level of the Sabres, the Sabres should have stepped up the physical play and taken Tampa out of their comfort zone. They didn't and got burned by it. If the Sabres fall short of the playoffs, these two points are going to stick out in my mind.
thesportsbuff Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 i blame deluca for making the thread

I think the 12 game losing streak on the road without getting one point might be a little more to blame instead of losing a game on the tail end of 3 out of 4 nights after winning 11 out of 12 points........

Last night was 2 points that should have been banked. It was two points that would have put the Sabres in 11th place, 6 pts out with a game in hand. It was a lost opportunity on a night where other results allowed the Sabres to gain ground. The 11 points out of 12 and 3 games in 4 nights mean nothing. They do not have the luxury of resting on recent success or falling back on the excuse of 3 in 4. They used all allowable excuses early in the season. There are no more excuses for lack of effort or poor play.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 i blame deluca for making the thread Agreed he put a Pox on the whole game........... :wallbash:
Eleven Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 i blame deluca for making the thread I don't know his record, but I know you won't see me start one for the rest of the season. I think the 12 game losing streak on the road without getting one point might be a little more to blame instead of losing a game on the tail end of 3 out of 4 nights after winning 11 out of 12 points........ Yes. If they had taken care of business better earlier in the year, the consequences of this loss wouldn't be so magnified. I missed this game; I was able to listen to the first ten minutes or so on the way to dinner. It sounded like the team was playing well very early. Wish I had DVRed it to see if it was a collapse or just a tough loss.
deluca67 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 Agreed he put a Pox on the whole game........... :wallbash: Than I will make sure to start every game day thread. Maybe the Sabres will go 0-27, fire Ruff and Regier and make significant changes to the roster.

If not for some really nice saves by Garon, the usual missed open nets and a couple of posts, the Sabres could have won. I just don't understand why they wouldn't have come out the gates same as they played the last 10 minutes. Now is not the time for half efforts.

OverPowerYou Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 We will make the playoffs. We play Toronto twice near the end of the year in back to back games I think. That's where we steal 8th from them

spndnchz Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Well. Besides Ehrhoff screwing up twice that lead to goals, guys hitting posts, refusing to shoot the puck, some bad ice, and some bad calls that was a pretty good game. Oh who am I kidding. With a little more effort they could have won that game. But they didn't, therefore, suckage.
Randall Flagg Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 I second that motion. EDIT: WE NEED A THIRD, SO THE MOTION WILL CARRY. Then I suppose I would like to third the motion.

This team took enough time off earlier in the year.

Their backs had to be against the wall before they started trying, like usual.
... Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Well now, seeing as they have revealed themselves, again, like a relapsing meth junkie, I will ask the question that I (and others) have asked all season: What the hell is the matter with this team? How much you can blame coaching, when just earlier this week they spanked Boston so soundly? These guys clearly think they can "turn it on" during a game because that's exactly what they attempt to do most games. In other endeavors I'm familiar with, like theatre, music, soccer, and martial arts, you practice or train with the idea that you CAN NOT "turn it on" during a performance or competition. You train and practice in an effort to raise your worst performance to a competitive level - because you are no better than your worst. Are the coaches not approaching practices this way? Are the players just stupid? Is the "locker room" so collectively fragile that it takes them two periods to work themselves up for a game? I have to think the prevailing theory is the most likely: too many weak players. Not weak in strength, rather, weak in constitution and mettle. They collectively bring down the locker room - they, as this particular combination of human beings, work against each other, rather than raise each other up. Does DR see it this way? I think he does not fully grasp the above concept. I think he's too much of a numbers guy - meaning that he sees it as you can gather players based solely on the numbers. He thinks that if you put Dude A with Dudes B and C, that combination should work on the ice if it works on paper. I think he has no understanding of the finer, human aspects of being on a team. So, with a loss, other than reminding ourselves that this team fundamentally stinks, what is there to say right now that is fresh and new? A lot of us are worried about what DR will do at the deadline. I guess I hope that the deadline marks the beginning and the end of Darcy Regier as Sabres GM. Maybe I'd like to see the Sabres flame-out for several reasons, most already stated in this thread. Maybe I'd like to see them take a shot at making the playoffs, probably mostly for my own selfish reasons - although that depends on what happens at the deadline.
