waldo Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Vanek is going to break out of his slump with a multiple point game tonight, 2 goals, 1 assist. GO SABRES. You could be right. it will be difficult for Dallas to defense those lines. Two scoring lines, maybe 3. They will have to pick either the vanek or the pom line to play their one pair against.Remember Dallas is not that deep d wise. I am guessing the pom line with their speed coupled with the fact Vanek has been injured causes Dallas to try and shut down the Pom line. If so Vanek could end up with the second pair thus a little more space and time...that could get interesting in a hurry ..Vaneks hands and vision, ennis's speed/ability to take the puck in and Staffords staying power in zone. those two need to got to the net with their sticks on the ice when Vaneks got the puck. It will be really interesting to watch him roll the lines tonight, especially if he starts to mix. could get tough for Dallas to match up..Sound defense to start, everthing else follows.. It gets so much easier when you have more than one line scoring.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Really excited to see Vanek with Ennis, definitely has the potential to be productive. Wish someone other than Stafford was there though....maybe at some point they'll try Gerbe-Ennis-Vanek? I know Vanek has played RW before (never permanently, but for stretches) so it could work. Alternatively, how long before we see Vanek-Ennis-Pominville? I think the real question is, what in the world does Stafford have to do to get moved out of the top-6 on a regular basis? Vandalize the locker room? Bomb the coach's office? Clearly nothing he does on the ice can get him moved down.
... Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Time for a glass if wine and to turn on the game. Skol! Nice to see Doug and his big, bald noggin. Point at us, Doug, point. Vanek on the fourth line? Oh God.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Only justification I can see for Vanek being on the 4th line (if he stays there the entire game) is he's still not 100% and really only got dressed for PP time, but they don't want him totally cold coming off the bench. What a play by Ehrhoff. He's so good at laying out and getting the puck without tripping the guy.
kishoph Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Patrick isn't afraid of hurting someone's feelings, he matches up lines.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Patrick isn't afraid of hurting someone's feelings, he matches up lines. If Rob Ray is to be believed, he's also not afraid of getting hit with pucks as he didn't really move out of the way fast there :P
Hawerchuk Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Im dvr'ing the game so sorry my late 2cents. MSG doesn't even bother to update the starting lines on the pop down window under the score graphic. Still have Vanek, McCormick, Ellis on the 4th line. Dumbas$es! I stand corrected. That is the line?!! Shows what the hell I know.
... Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 My wife thinks Drew Miller is cuter than Ryan. Meanwhile, looks like Jeep may have left some of his mojo at home.
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Ennis with nice wheels and a good move. GO SABRES!!!
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Nice play by Ellis to take it away from Benn. GO SABRES!!!
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 The out of town scoreboard is really obnoxiously large and gets in the way when they put it on screen. There's gotta be a better way to implement it.
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 OK. Let's see how they handle a little adversity. It's been awhile. GO SABRES!!!
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Nice little flurry to end the first. Roy with a couple of good plays. I like the way we answered after their goal. Other than giving up a PP goal on a crap penalty call against McCormick, I thought the Sabres had pretty much the best of it. GO SABRES!!!
Wyldnwoody44 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 What a way to go down a goal on a horse shi+ call....a make up call needs to be had. Sabres need some more pressure too
kishoph Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 The Ennis line needs to get more ice time, they have the least of the 4 lines, I don't agree with that. Only 5 SOG's but a couple of good scoring chances.
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Nice work by Leino to draw the penalty. Need one here. GO SABRES!!! How the hell does Stafford not put that in? Unbelievable. GO SABRES!!!
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 I'd make an excuse for Stafford and say it's really hard to elevate without any space....but I really don't feel he's earned that, should've been a goal. Lehtonen does look really sharp tonight, seems like we're headed for a low scoring affair win or loss. Stafford again :wallbash:
K-9 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Nifty pass by Ennis and wasted by Stafford. Again. GO SABRES!!!
fiftyone Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 That wasn't on Stafford, it was just a great save by Lehtonen. The other team is trying too, you know.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 That wasn't on Stafford, it was just a great save by Lehtonen. The other team is trying too, you know. It was a great save, but every once in awhile it would be great if our $4 million "30 goal scorer" actually sniped it by a goaltender as opposed to cleaning up junk in front of the net.
