On the upside, The Phantom Menace features the best lightsaber duel of the series.

While it does have the best choreography, I still prefer Vader vs Luke round 1 in Empire. Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors ever, so I might see TPM in 3D, which will probably lead to me seeing all 6. On the other hand, I might just wait for Empire in 2016.

You see? It's crap like this that really pushes my buttons. Just own up to it ya no talent hack! The fact that Lucas continually tried to rewrite history and make claims that "he always intended the movies to be the way they are now" futher alienates the old guard fans. Fact is, without competent writers, designers, and directors, Star Wars trilogy would NEVER have been as successful as it it. Lucas is, and always has been the benifactor of the talent around him, at least until he desired complete control and put out the mess called Episodes 1-III.

Any real Star Wars fans that want to know the true story about how the original movies came to be, without all the back tracking by Lucas, should check out this book:

I can say that it is definitely my two young boys 12 and 9 years old that will have me back at the movies filling mr lucas cash register.

I'd guess this has been discussed on a billion star wars sites - but isn't this the same pattern from the first set of movies? Where the kids love their set of movies as the parents loved their set? Maybe I should ask that first? R_dudly - do your boys love the new set more than the original set?

What if they had been made in order instead?

Same here. Like we're all idiots who didn't know what we saw.

I liked this line:

And on TotalFilm.com, a fan going by FBPMurray37 agrees, noting, "Greedo is a highly experienced bounty hunter. Yet he misses Han from three feet. ... The only way Han walks out of that situation alive is if he blows Greedo away before Greedo gets the chance to do the same thing to him."

Just curious, obviously the big screen is better, but how do they add the 3d? Is it any better than the simulated 3D my tv can produce? Because they obviously were not shot in 3D.

Oh no doubt, if my son was old enough, I would probably get talked into taking him and enjoy the experience! That's the best part of being daddy, sharing stuff together!

Basically, they create a duplicate image and then use computers to shift objects slightly dependent upon how far up in the foreground or back in the background they should be. Much like 'colorizing' b&w movies can't accurately reproduce the colors that were originally there, the newly 3d objects won't quite be at the right place and most likely the objects themselves won't be in full relief like they would be if a true 3d camera system were taking the original shot. It would take a lot of computational power to get stuff like faces and bodies to be in full 3D. A simple cylinder, like a light saber, could get rendered to 3d much easier.

F 3D

Hey kids, let's watch Apocalypse Now & then Godfather in 3D...... Whataya say?? Maybe Bogie in "In A Lonely Place"

How about Godard's "Breathless"

Melville's "Le Samaurai" "Bob Le Flambeur" or "Le Cercle Rouge"

CAN't WAIT!!!!

Pffffffft.

Or any meaningful piece of cinema ever made.

NEVER

Hitchcock shot Dial M for Murder in 3D. You can see what frames were made for 3D if you watch the regular film closely.

3D failed twice before & hopefully once again.

Just curious how many of you have interest in the release of Star Wars Episode I in 3d. I'm looking forward to it. I've never really cared to watch a move in 3d, but if Star Wars is on the big screen I have to see it. How many more times will the Star Wars movies be re-released? I'm really looking forward to Episode IV being put in theaters 2015. The original trilogy far surpasses the new trilogy, and I have never seen the originals on the big screen. Any how, I just want to see what you guys think of Star Wars being back in theaters. I am very excited.

Never seen any. Sorry!
