fan2456 Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 and when sounding like a as in neighbor and weigh, and on weekends and holidays and all throughout May, and you'll always be wrong no matter what !" And it gets thrown out the window in surnames!
spndnchz Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Duck and cover my friend. Wait about 60 posts and you should be okay to get back up. So are you a flyers fan or a Sabres fan?
tdflyers Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 So are you a flyers fan or a Sabres fan? Flyers are first. Kings are second. Sabres are third. I grew up in PA.
spndnchz Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Flyers are first. Kings are second. Sabres are third. I grew up in PA. So why link a Sabres blog in your sig? Which btw we don't let fly for too many people here.
tdflyers Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 Sabres board. Sabres blog. I can remove it if you would like. He's a friend of mine.
That Aud Smell Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Flyers are first. Kings are second. Sabres are third. i am not a believer in fan polygamy. the idea that you can cheer for the flyers and the sabres is ... well, it defies description, frankly. I grew up in PA. are you in fact the an@l-bast@rd child of our board's erstwhile curmudgeon?
inkman Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 i am not a believer in fan polygamy. the idea that you can cheer for the flyers and the sabres is ... well, it defies description, frankly. I think it's much easier being a Flyers fan first, then a Sabres fan. They don't have too much hatred for our team because the Sabres have been their bitch for most of their existence. You don't hate the annoying little runt in the neighborhood who you always try to ditch, you just try to avoid him.
LaFontaineToMogilny Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 This is true about European forwards, unfortunately Lieno has yet to show much, if any, of these skills. I have yet to see anything from Lieno that the Sabres couldn't be getting from the average AHL player at a minimal salary. So, in your eyes, Ville Leino and Matt Ellis have shown about the same level of skill this year?
Who Else? Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 So, in your eyes, Ville Leino and Matt Ellis have shown about the same level of skill this year? I think that's a fair statement this year. Leino probably has more points becuase he is playing with "better" linemates. We all Know Leino has more talent, but has he shown it in a Sabres uniform.

Flyers are far ahead of the other two. I don't really *cheer* for the Sabres. Developing talent from within a organization seems to becoming less common so I give the Sabres credit for that. Something I wish the Flyers would do more of (specifically dmen). Also a fan of Miller. You don't have another team that you follow even in the slightest? I think it's much easier being a Flyers fan first, then a Sabres fan. They don't have too much hatred for our team because the Sabres have been their bitch for most of their existence. You don't hate the annoying little runt in the neighborhood who you always try to ditch, you just try to avoid him. My opinion of teams Flyers fans dislike are (of course everyone has their own): in order - Penguins, Leafs, Rangers, Caps, Devils, Bruins, Habs, Sabres As you stated, Flyers haven't really had too much of a problem with the Sabres recently. If the annoying little runt finds where you are you can usually put him in the trash can without to much struggle. :)

We all Know Leino has more talent, but has he shown it in a Sabres uniform. I'm not talking about points, as Leino and Ellis are both producing abysmal numbers. I am talking about skills. Things like stick handling, skating, passing, etc. Despite the horrendous season Leino is having, I think it is blatantly obvious that he is a much more skilled player than Ellis.

Puck handling the puck into the corner or side boards and losing it is a skill? Blind backpasses are skills? Disappearing in about every game is a skill? Like I said above I know Leino has more skill, but has not shown it in the games this year. I'm sure he looks great in Warm-ups and practice though. i only threw the points in there because I knew someone would try to use Leino's marginally higher numbers to thwart my statement.
korab rules Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 If the annoying little runt finds where you are you can usually put him in the trash can without to much struggle. :) Or you can sucker punch him, get a couple buddies to help you beat him up and then brag about it on Facebook.
That Aud Smell Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Flyers are far ahead of the other two. I don't really *cheer* for the Sabres. well, that's a horse of a slightly different color. still, the idea of even saying that you have 3 favorite teams is icky to me. Developing talent from within a organization seems to becoming less common so I give the Sabres credit for that. (ha! see i made a funny about our crappy team with a single emoticon.) You don't have another team that you follow even in the slightest? i try to keep tabs on a number of teams, but i don't cheer for a single one of them. not ever. i may prefer a certain outcome in the playoffs, once the sabres are out of it, but i am not cheering for any team but mine own.

Matt Ellis has shown as much skill as Leino has shown. Leino has yet to show he has the hockey skill of Milt Ellis let alone Matt Ellis. I'll take Matt Ellis over Leino any day.
tdflyers Posted February 8, 2012 Author Report Posted February 8, 2012 Or you can sucker punch him, get a couple buddies to help you beat him up and then brag about it on Facebook. That guy was an idiot. It's a shame. Just another black-eye for Flyers fans.
Eleven Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 That guy was an idiot. It's a shame. Just another black-eye for Flyers fans. The most disgusting fanbase in North American sports is well out of eyes to be blackened. You're looking at penetration. And, being Filly, you'll probably love it.
Marvelo Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 It must be tough for Leino adjusting to Buffalo and the Lindy Ruff system, especially with the big contract, the big expectations. I'm willing to give him a mulligan this year... He seems to be getting more consistent lately with the opportunities, so that's something of a relief. Hopefully his production goes up and up. The big concern is that he hits a low-level production plateau and stays there, and his contract becomes an albatross over a long period of time. I hope it doesn't become a situation like Gary Matthews of the Angels when they had to pay $20 million of his salary to another team to convince them to take him.

I can only say that I disagree, it is probably not possible to disagree any more than I do with your statement.
... Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I can only say that I disagree, it is probably not possible to disagree any more than I do with your statement. Interested to know why. Ellis can hang on to the puck against the boards with the best of the players who do that sort of thing. It's his one true hockey skill. In doing so, he also can drag it to the net once in a while. He's also a monster, build-wise, and extremely humble and generally optimistic. I'd say the latter qualities make him more desirable in the locker room than the quitter-mentality Leino displayed early in the season. Only very recently has Leino shown any above-journeyman level skill.
fan2456 Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Leino has played on a top line in this league on a team that went deep into the playoffs two years ago. Ellis is a 4th liner who's in and out of the line-up on an average team. If you don't like Leino, that's fine, but be realistic.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I don't know how anybody can say Ellis has as much skill as Leino. I know it's fashionable to hate on him for his big contract and lack of production as another reason to fire Regier, but seriously, Ellis is a fringe-NHL player who could probably only make 10 squads in the entire league. Leino isn't an elite player by any stretch of the imagination, but, he's without a doubt a top-9 forward and proved to be a capable top-6 guy in Philly. Ellis being good along the boards does not mean he can match Leino's passing and shooting ability. But that's okay, because hyperbole is fun.

Some on here only wish for a team of Matt Eli (my pluralization of more than one Ellis) so they can work hard and bleed blue and gold. Couple that with underperforming European with a big contract and its fodder for msg boards like this. This town has long been adverse to Eurpoean players, including the sneaky russians. I dont know how one can objectively look at Leino and Ellis and say they have equal hockey skill. I suppose the Sabres fan base is so dejected its come to this false equivalency.

Leino has not shown it this year like he did in Detroit or Philly.
Patty16 Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 I disagree. He hasnt produced points, but he still has exhibited more talent and skill. Ellis also plays against the worst players on the other team, Leino doesnt.
