tdflyers Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Despite our(Buffalo's) infatuation with the Flyers style and the fact they have won two cups, I believe they haven’t won in 36 years, while Buffalo stands at 41 and an ugly zero in cups. Neither has a very good recent history of winning the cup.. Might be good to look at Detroit's style before Philly's. one thing is for sure, I would sell raffle tickets to fans and let the winner take a shot in the shootout before I would ever let Leino ever try again. Leino in the shootout? Not a good choice. Does Ruff make these decisions?
LabattBlue Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 I'm normally not one to get fired up about spelling mistakes, but could one of the mods fix the spelling of Leino in the title of this thread. Thx.

LTS Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Ya know, when lines are kept together for more than 3 shifts, that kinda stuff tends to happen. Careful now.. talk like that will allow those blaming injuries to speak up and try to justify their cause. :)
JKB1646 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 To me Lieno is like a lot of European forwards, smoother skater, nice stick kandling skills, sweet passers, skates big circles, have no clue what back checking is, non aggressive and rarely shows signs of life unless the puck is on their stick and there is an opportunity to score. These types of players need a compliment of quality true blue NHLers around them to be successful. Same old reason why they have rarely shined when they get to the NHL. OVI is a great example of a european skater with talent who is LAZY. Its not the Lindy system its the player.

Though I don't like what Leino is doing this year (see my post above) he does not look like Semin floating around out there. Ovechkin is a bad example. I can't stand the guy, but I'm sure we would all be enamored if Leino was plying like him.

tdflyers Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 Leaving it to show the true intelligence of a Flyers fan. Really? Spelling = Intelligence? Just trying to talk some hockey.
inkman Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Really? Spelling = Intelligence? Just trying to talk some hockey. In my world, which I imagine overlaps most of the real world, spelling has a direct correlation to intelligence. Ponificating about sports is like the old adage on opinions, they're like ######, everyone has one.

Maybe we should just give the new kid the same courtesy.

Sabres Fan in NS Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Really? Spelling = Intelligence? Just trying to talk some hockey. You are new to the board, so it will take some time to get your sarcasm meter tuned up.

inkman Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 One's ability to pick up on sarcasm is always valuable in my mind too. Perhaps I'm an idiot, always a real possibility, but was chz being sarcastic or just snide? I was being sarcastic? Still not sure. Emoticons usually are key in these situations. :-/
Sabres Fan in NS Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 I was being sarcastic? I would like to think so, but only you know for sure ... .
tdflyers Posted February 6, 2012 Author Report Posted February 6, 2012 I was being sarcastic? I guess not. Maybe being a bitch? Am I being sarcastic? You are new to the board, so it will take some time to get your sarcasm meter tuned up. Thanks. Like I said, just trying to talk some hockey. I will watch my spieling misteaks next time so I actually look like a 20 year fan of the sport. I believe you meant pontificating ... probably just a simple typo ... :P . I know you're having a tough season an all but to focus on spelling rather than the topic just seems a bit petty.

I like talking hockey too. I'm sure everyone here sees that you're a 20 year fan of the sport by your 7 posts. <<<<<---- sarcasm

dEnnis the Menace Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 1) Being a Flyers fan, and having had him play on your team, the misspelling of his name is kind of embarrasing, just as it is embarrassing when our fans can't spell Regehr or Ehrhoff or Pominville or Myers. Don't feel too bad, but at the same time, you should know better. 2) I was not impressed with him at all at the beginning of the year, however, I believe he has started to come into his own. I think he will better both (1) down the stretch and (2) in the coming seasons as long as he ahs the right linemates (see: Kassian and Adam) 3) lighten up for God's sake, it's only Monday. you start off this sour, and you won't even make it to Complaint Thursdays, let alone F'N Fantastic Friday's!

MattPie Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 A lot of Flyers fans don't know about the contempt Sabres fans have for the Flyers. TD, stick around. Good discussion here and as long as everyone is cool, we're good with opposing fans.

Thanks for the reply. 1) The word is embarrassing. You spelled it wrong. :) 2) I do think that Leino will come around. He might not live up to the contract that he signed but I do believe he is a better player than he showed so far. 3) I don't believe I started the whole spelling issue but I'll end it now. Thanks for the advice. Changing other people's posts. Strike one. Oh my. Seriously. You corrected your post (as mods can do with IP Board without showing "edited by") and warned me to save face. That's very unfair of you. But I get it. It's your board.

Thanks for the advice. HAHA thanks! My spell check doesn't work for some reason anymore. anyways. I expected at least the same production from him that he had in Philly if not more (I predicted in the 2011-2012 Season Predictions thread a lot more, but it's embarrassing so leave it be), especially if he was supposed to be on Stafford's line or with Gerbe, etc. I DEFINITELY expected more from him than what we've gotten so far. The team as a whole though has been disappointing so I can't just point the finger at him <_< And I was just bustin your balls on my third point.
