JJFIVEOH Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Because there are back-to-back games and Ruff knows who can make a difference in a game with the Rangers. Nice win. Unfortunately I was updating my wife's Crackberry so I couldn't pay close attention, although I caught the last 5 minutes without being distracted. Not happy to see Vanek not come back - maybe it made the boys play a little harder..? Caught the massive miss by Stafford on a great set-up. It could have been 5-1 from what I saw. Good point about Gerbe. Too bad you missed the first 55, they pretty much dominated the first 50. Best all around game I've seen in several weeks.
OverPowerYou Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I only watched bits and pieces of the game and at one point I noticed Gerbe and Ennis out there at the same time.... It looked like a bunch of kids skating on the ice... We're they paired on the same line?
Eleven Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Gaustad was the third star and the only Sabre? Ces connards français! EDIT: Did Lindy just say Vanek out for several games?
biodork Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Gaustad was the third star and the only Sabre? Ces connards français! EDIT: Did Lindy just say Vanek out for several games? Yep... I hate the phrase "out for a period of time." :( Apparently a new injury, not the same shoulder.
TrueBlueGED Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Loved the game tonight! Was thoroughly entertained, just really fun hockey to watch. I'm not sold that this is going to happen on a consistent basis, but it was great nonetheless. On the chance that this does continue...we're officially the San Diego Chargers of the NHL. Ennis certainly didn't look out of place at center and that line was exciting, but yea, they're quite the disaster in their own end. I understand why people don't want Ehrhoff taking the shot at the empty net. But honestly, I LOVED it. He had a good look at it. We're almost dead last, at this point I'll take the chance to seal the win every single time over the "safe" play and continue to try to wait out the clock in a bunker. Lindy just said Vanek is out about a week :censored:

TrueBlueGED Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Oh, and if Myers played like that every night I don't think there would be any debate about him being untouchable.
biodork Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Luke a healthy scratch by Lindy. Don't like it, but I guess he's back in tomorrow with Vanek out (unless MAG plays forward again).
Doohicksie Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Gaustad was the third star and the only Sabre? Ces connards français! Not only the only star for the winning team that outshot the losers 2-1, but he was the THIRD star. Homers.
K-9 Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Luke a healthy scratch by Lindy. Don't like it, but I guess he's back in tomorrow with Vanek out (unless MAG plays forward again). Just heard Lindy explain why. He said it's not uncommon for a young player to struggle and sit out a game, that he had a few tough games on the road, Ellis and McCormick are playing better and, most telling, Adam "needs to stay around the puck more." I agree. GO SABRES!!!

I haven't been a fan of Adam for much of the season, but if Ruff puts MAG at forward instead of Adam I'll have an aneurysm.

Lindy just said Vanek is out about a week :censored: About a week or weeks? I can handle a week but if were talking weeks then this game means little and we're toast. I loved their effort tonight but scoring two goals (one empty net) does not prove that this team can score on a regular basis. We can't have one of our only two goal scorers go down for a significant amount of time.

I agree. GO SABRES!!! I don't disagree on the scratch per se, more on the timing. Adam looked loose and more confident at the All Star Game, and like another poster said, I was hoping that would carry over to his play with the Sabres. Unfortunately now he's probably right back to second-guessing his worth. I just hope he responds in a positive way when he gets another chance at the lineup, but we all know how Lindy hates to change the lineup after a win.

Put him in the minors. Playing him 8 minutes at wing most nights and sitting him others is probably not the right way to develop an NHL center, which this team is very short on.

What happened to the "let him play through a tough stretch" approach like Lindy took with Sekera last season or the one before?

Adam's gotta play tomorrow.
bunomatic Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 So... How long does cunneyworth last in les miserable, ...er, Les habitant , oh f#@&, in montreal ?
wonderbread Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I think Adam sat because he was at the ASG.

And I don't necessarily disagree. But if Adam responds in anything other than a positive way, that says a lot about the player. Coaches need to find these things out. Like Myers and countless others that have found the press box before, I think Adam comes out and gives Lindy a reason to keep him in the lineup. GO SABRES!!!
Who Else? Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I would have liked to see some desperation tonight. Montreal finally went balls out in the last eight minutes. The next few games can decide the rest of the season for both teams.

My hunch is they WANT Adam to stay in the bigs if at all possible. It's on him to give Lindy a reason to keep him in the lineup. I hope the kid does just that. GO SABRES!!!

The Sabres have 47 points and 32 games left. They'll need to go 22-6-4 or thereabouts to make the playoffs.
